Positions covered in that group are 2-4 though, essentially meaning a starter/backup at each spot.
That group is wildly undersized for what we need a 4 to do. Our most efficient teams had 4s that could guard 2-5 (Clowney, Nelson, Dioubate). I don't feel good about anyone in that lineup trying to guard a true big.

I don't see Allen being a Oats type pg. He wants and needs a scorer.

the way to deal with that is to have a team with enough savvy and length to double the few teams with a big who can cause that problem while being able to recover quickly enough on the scramble. the herb team did it and its a recipe that many teams have used over the years. that said i do agree that a legit 4 in the same vein as the ones you stated would be nice add.

I definitely think we should add another 4, but if Oats doesn't trust Jemison at the 4 he shouldn't keep him around and Allen certainly has the size and defensive ability to play there.

My point wasn't to say those should be the guys playing there but more-so that there is at least some depth at the 4 covered in that group of 6.

I didn’t think about it from the AD angle. You’re probably correct.

Agree on Jemison, though he's got a lot of work to do to be able to defend the paint. Allen would never stay if we planned on playing him at the 4, and I wouldn't blame him a bit for leaving if we did.

Unless Oats thinks we can stretch Bristow and Garrison out at the 4 (and that they'll be competent enough shooting the ball to play there), I think we have to go get someone.

Trilly put in an official for Cloer to Bama. It’s a big time pickup. I think he was ranked top 20 in his original class and then reclassified and redshirted last year

Oats said during a press conference “we’ve had to play Amari out of position. He’s really a point guard and we’ve had to play him at forward because of injuries and we have better depth at guard”

If Amari comes back he will be playing the point a lot. You can tell by the recruits and transfers we’re bringing in.

Could be wrong but I thought he was just a 2026 kid who signed which makes him a portal prospect. Regardless I like the pickup. Really would like to add Wilkins and an established 4 but the potential of this group could be really good as is. Unfortunately, the inverse is also true with so many upside with uncertainty plays.

I think his point was that he can play a good bit more with the ball in his hands. Wilkins being one of our top targets would likely mean either Aden isn't coming back or that Amari will serve as more of a point forward than an actual PG. Not against him playing there more but we are after other guards.

He enrolled for the spring semester since he couldn’t play his senior year due to injuries is what I can find.

2026 kid who was a partial reclass, enrolled in January, and redshirted. We did that with a guy a few years back too. He should have full eligibility left.

He was a top 60 recruit in 2025. He has definite game. Great shooter and has very decent athleticism and can play D. He has some swagger also.
