6 points in 17 seconds by the guy you make a joke about…going to need you to joke more about Bama players next season.

Heat are the closest thing to a team for me in the NBA. I wasn't really joking as much as you think...Herro had a bit of that Jimmy Buckets playoff clutchness rub off on him.

I know he’s done crazy stuff before, but a 5 point lead with 25 seconds should rarely turn into a 1 point deficit in 17 seconds…even in the NBA with advancing the ball timeouts [ahhh…late night epiphany…that’s why Nate doesn’t use his timeouts. He’s showing NBA GMs that he can save them for the end of games where they actually get you a clear advantage

We will see about that.

Kentucky lost out on Gwath two years in a row… oof. Gave poor Pope the nope.

B.Miller is still lights out in the clutch. Love watching that dude play. He's got that fire.

Just because we offered him more money doesn't mean we offered him enough more to keep up with the increase in the "market" this offseason. If we increase payroll by 50%, which is a lot, and the cost of doing business increases by 65% we are actually worse off despite a 50% increase in payroll.
This is the truth. Oats signed because he was okay with the number given (underestimating the market again). It seems like the past two seasons, we've been surprised as to what players are now going for.
Not going to lie, Watts saying that Oats feels like Garrison is a big fish scares me a bit. Makes me think he views him as the starter and we paid a premium simply for potential again (similar to Bol Bowen and Bethea last year). Oats has earned trust with roster choices overall, but taking your biggest swings on potential (Bethea and Bol Bowen last year; Garrison, and Jasper Johnson this year) and it not working out two years in a row would not just be an NIL number problem but also a misuse of the NIL he has.

Not sure he has a choice if the sure things are getting snatched by the likes of big ten schools. There's a reason why schools are looking overseas for talent.

Garrison, and Jasper Johnson this year
Nate has never seen a former McDonald's All-American who didn't pan out at his first school he didn't like.

And that's not something we should be afraid to explore.
I'm not saying the NIL is enough to compete for all the big fish but when the two biggest NIL offers you make in the portal are on a high potential big with raw defensive tools and an inconsistent motor (Bol Bowen) and a 5-star guard who did not play well their freshman year (Bethea) and you follow that up with striking out on the same 2 archetypes the next season (Garrison and Johnson respectively) then you are at least partly to blame. I also think part of the problem is that Oats is trying to spread out the NIL to prevent locker room issues.

These are the guys Nate has signed out of the portal since portal rankings became a thing and what they were ranked.
Nelson #3.
Cliff #13
Sears #20
Estrada #24
Biz #38
Bethea #57
TBB #71
Youngblood #79
Trelly #103
Mallette #116
Bristow #385
Wague NR
Welch NR
Relying solely on landing guys like Garrison, Davis-Fleming, Phillips, or Johnson is highly unlikely to work out well for us. The majority of our successful transfers have been top 50 guys with a few top 100ish as well.

NCAA be like: “First we need to know if you’re going to Alabama before we grant you more eligibility”

This is true, but there’s also just a lot more transfers now. Like if Sears or Nelson were put in a time machine and hit the portal today they would both be significantly lower.

Missouri has passed us for Jasper
A&M has passed us for Cade Phillips.
