and hopefully we get something out of the freshmen bigs. I do feel a lot better about our bigs going into next year than I did going into this year, especially getting Carl back. I mean he's not great but he's solid and he's another body, and Moussa and Nick have improved.

just having the option to have two big men on the court at one time will be huge next year. It should hopefully help in the offensive and defensive rebound department, for sure. And, it should allow Nick Jacobs to avoid double teams every time he touches the ball.

St. Johns and Virginia look absolutely terrible so far.

Virginia won by 18. They play Iowa next.

A bit random but it would have been nice if we had signed this Niang kid from Iowa State. Noticed we offered. He doesn't really rebound well for a big, so he would have fit in well.

If the report is true, coaches at the top of the search list would include Shaka Smart and Anthony Grant

Wonder if they really think that CAG would get better results than what Tubby got. I'm doubtful.

I started a new thread for this topic so this wouldn't get bogged down.

I will say that I was pretty surprised to find out they fired Tubby.

Three straight 20+ win seasons, a winning conference record, no losing seasons. I'd say that looks pretty tempting.

I am no Grant apologist, but compare his tenure to that of other coaches who have inherited similar situations and Grant has outperformed them.

Tubby had five 20+ win seasons in his 6 years at Minnesota. No losing seasons. His conference record wasn't nearly as good, but he's coaching in a much, much better bball conference. He made the NCAAt 3 times in his 6 years and made it to the round of 32 this year. It's about the same as what CAG has accomplished only against stiffer competition.

20 win seasons and winning conference records in the SEC aren't impressive. We would have lost 30+ Big 10 games in the last 3 years.

20 wins should never be a barometer for success. We play too many games these days for that to be an important number.

He plays 22 minutes a night, so that's a decent blow to them.

One thing to keep an eye on is rebounding. I think that will be the critical factor in this game. Anyone who has followed us this season knows we aren't a good rebounding team, we are ranked 240 in that department at 33.1 RPG. This happens to be a strength for the Terps who average 41 RpG, good for third in the country.

Moose, Jacobs, Pollard and Levi/Coop will have to gather boards like their lives depended on it tonight.

Well maybe we'll have better luck next year then.
