TCU, Miami, Washington, I would take BC.
But would BC take us? Probably not that late in the season as BC might be struggling to get that 6th win...I doubt Miami, TCU, or Washington would either as a loss then could cost 'em a potential play-off berth. Not to mention Bama wouldn't want to play Miami/TCU/UW the week before Auburn...
While I'm no fan of the 2019 schedule, the weekend before Auburn will always be hard to schedule an FBS school...we won't schedule an OOC Power 5 team the week before Auburn nor would they want to play us that late in the season...even a mediocre Group of 5 team would be hard to schedule as they may be struggling to get to 6 wins and a bowl bid. FCS schools are more amenable to playing that late as they get a huge paycheck and a loss doesn't affect their potential postseason hopes...

The thing is Alabama is becoming a national brand again, I think neutral site games are much much easier to attend for many fans outside of the state. So I personally love neutral site games.

That was my mistake. I was actually referencing the New Mexico State on Sept 7 not West Carolina so I had my own wires crossed about the new team and date for just scheduled game. I would never advocate for a home and home or a power 5 prior to the Iron Bowl.
With that being said that still doesn't change that one of our other 2 early season OOC games should be much better and the teams I mentioned need games on September 7.
@Sneaky_Sally
I dont't think people are against the neutral site games. The issue is two fold. It is suppose to be for recruiting purposes but the level of competition is making people question whether that is truly beneficial. Secondly it seems to be taking the place of home and homes with other power 5 teams. Part of the allure of CFB is providing an excuse for students, alumni, and fans to visit different cities, campuses, stadiums and other parts of the country and we are losing out as Bama fans on that.
And while I will trade that to lift the big trophy at the end of the year, this isn't looking like it is helping us much if at all anymore and it might hurt us in the long run.

Meh... could be worse - Charleston State comes to mind.
Western Carolina isn't a bad match before the Auburn game.
The September schedule, however, is pathetic.

Charleston Southern you mean?
They are better than Western Carolina as far as 1AA teams go. Whatever that means.

With the new coaching hires the SEC should be stacked again in a couple of years. The SOS will be strong.

Exactly.
Western Carolina is better than "wut" you're imagining.

Plus you can't blame our athletic department for Louisville this year or Duke next year. Chick-fil-a schedules the opponent. We just agreed to be in the game.
You just contradicted yourself. No one held a gun to our AD's head and made him agree. There is literally no one else you can blame.

I think we should have the following non-conference schedule:
@ UCF
UCF
@ UCF
UCF
@ UCF
UCF

The schedule is so bad that Tua's thumb fell off. Thanks Byrne!!

Is there still an open date in the schedule? that doesn't sound like enough out of conference games. Maybe snag an independent like BYU or Notre Dame to spice it up?

No I didn't DA. We agreed to play in the kickoff classic. Chick-fil-a picked the opponent. We can't back out of the game. Like one of the posters earlier said we need a clause that says we can if the bowl people pick a crappy opponent.

I asked this in the thread on tRant...maybe someone here knows.
Does anyone know if we demanded 1 million more than the other team in the 2019 Chik-fil-a game? I read that was a requirement in a future neutral site game.
Point being, if that is our contractual stance moving forward what level opponent is going to accept it? Maybe I am wrong but I do not see us having a top OOC game at a neutral site with that demand.
ETA: Can Bama get games under that type of contract? Absolutely. But I do not expect to see a steady stream of top programs lining up to play us while bringing home a million less.

If I remember correctly, I could be completely off on this, the ACC requires the ability for all of their teams to have a chance to play in the Kickoff Game. The SEC made no such demand but demands we get a bigger piece of the pie.
When it comes to playing against good opponents neutral site, I don't think we have an issue getting teams to sign up to play us. We are the biggest ticket out there right now. Even playing against us and losing gets your school massive exposure. Plus, losing to us in an OOC game will not prevent a team from making the playoffs. Had FSU won the acc with 1-2 total loses one of those being to us, they would've been in the playoffs. The problem here is Chick-fil-a thinking they can just put anyone against us and draw eyeballs.

You can blame ESPN for not finding a better opponent.
We agree to accept their game, they are supposed to find a quality opponent.
I expect that them bringing in Duke is the reason that we now have to "mutually agree" to the Dallas 2020 opponent.

Not sure about Duke specifically, but we have been offered those terms.
For example, ESPN paid us an extra million for USC in exchange for us keeping 2020 open for Dallas, and also included a promise that we will receive a minimum of $1 million more than whoever they find to play us in that game. They love us right now, and pay us a shitload of money to play in the neutral site games every year.
