I like the home in homes to but it just doesn't make sense anymore from an economic standpoint point. We are going to sell our tickets regardless they're all type right tickets. University doesn't make any more money off a Game against Penn State then it does playing against sisters of the poor . Now these neutral site games are a different story we do make money off of them and we get a recruiting advantage by playing. The problem as I pointed out earlier is that Chick-fil-A gets to make the decision and they decided to give us Louisville and Duke over the next two seasons. Like PG said We should have the ability to opt out of these contracts if we're going to get crap games. No reason to keep harping on the home and home games they're just not gonna happen very often anymore fellas.

What the SEC should do is negotiate the ability for our team in the Chick-fil-A kickoff to be able to pick their opponent. Where is the money maker for Chick-fil-A in this kick off game. They should negotiate with about five teams and present them to whomever is the SEC team playing in the game.

Am I missing something major in this discussion? Are you saying that Bama has no say so over the opponent in these games? That we sign up for these OOC neutral site match ups but we have no say over who we play?

We need to cancel USM or New Mexico State for a higher level G5/low level P5. We could easily get left out with that OOC.

I think there's an agreement between two teams but it's mediated by the location/bowl itself. Similar to post season bowls.

Actually, it makes much less, because you have to give them a return game, as opposed to getting two home games from the little sisters of the poor.

This is old news. It might as well be a bowl game. We don't get to pick the opponents.
In fact, I would be willing to bet that we got Duke because no other ACC team would take the game against us anymore (until Richt went to Miami and accepted an offer. I give him credit for not being chickenshit).
We're the marquee. We were guaranteed $1 million more than FSU for that game, and we also get an extra million simply for agreeing to hold a date open for 2020 in Dallas, with absolutely no idea who they will find to play us.

Minnesota and Northwestern are among the options to open against in 2020.
Outside chance to meet OU.

Ok thanks for the clarification
So we guarantee to play an ACC opponent and the conference is obliged to serve one up?

In addition to the Western Carolina matchup, the Crimson Tide will play three other nonconference games in 2019. All in September, the Crimson Tide will take on Duke in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta then will also host both New Mexico State and Southern Miss later in the month.

Tickets better not be more than $10 for these games.

It's not contractual, but the reps of the Chick Fil A Atlanta game have been very clear that they will try to always have an SEC-ACC matchup, because of geography and the tie-ins to the Chick Fil A bowl.
It's been SEC-ACC in 10 of them. Boise State played in two when there was no ACC team and we played WVU in one. SEC has been in all 13.
I don't think the Advocare are as picky about what conferences appear in Dallas.

I don't have a problem with USM or Duke. USM is a historic regional opponent. Duke is a P5 program, and Cutcliffe has taken them to a bowl game in 5 of the last 6 years.
Western Carolina is shite, but we will never, under any circumstances, schedule a P5 the week before Auburn. I'd like to see us at least schedule a crappy FBS team for that week. Hell, start putting the Kent St. games there since Saban likes to help his alma mater out.

Do you really think in the day and age of the playoff system we have, someone wants to schedule BAMA?
Answer: Nope

Louisville needs to be the bottom bar for these opening games.
Is Alabama just going to take a monster cut of the kickoff game revenue or something?
I just find it hard to believe that Alabama would use a neutral site game vs Duke. Duke is borderline a "buy" game quality opponent
Maybe Bryne is trying to sell football games for agreements to set up basketball series. I have wanted AUburn to do this for a long, long time
I'd do a 2 for 1 home, maybe even jsut a home/home series with an Indiana, Syracuse or Kansas if they agreed to a home/home in basketball

Not the Ohio St, Florida St type programs who don't need Alabama for exposure/CFP resume
There are quite a few solid programs who probably would jump at the chance to leverage the Bama brand + exposure or need a Bama type OOC game to have any type of shot for CFP sans runnign the table
- Oregon
- Mich St
- Wisconsin
- Miami
- UCLA
- WVU
- Virginia Tech
- TCU
Just to name a few

We've recently had Neutral Site games with Wisconsin, WVU, and VT. Miami is already on the schedule for 2021. Michigan State home and home was cancelled because Advocare and Chick Fil A offered a shitload of money to play in their neutral site games, for which they eventually scheduled USC and FSU.
I'm relatively certain we ended up with Duke because Chick Fil A couldn't find another ACC team to take us on in the opener for 2019.

our AD is preparing us Bama fans for this day. NS retires after the 18 season and we need an easy schedule to let the new coach have some easy wins. This is my lame story and I am sticking to it.

The problem with that is that it won't happen.
It damn near happened last year. With a weak OOC schedule, AND the SEC not being as dominant, we could very well get left out of the playoffs. All it would take is a few unspectacular wins, a loss to a decent team, and 4 other teams having great years.
This is the sole reason I've always been an SEC SEC SEC guy. The SEC dominating OOC games helps us.
