This defense really needs Daron Payne. You could of course throw in a new coordinator too.

Unfortunately I think you are correct here. I saw the same thing with my first 1SG as a company commander. The troopers he thought could do better he was all up in their arse. The ones he knew were what they were, he just kind of followed the book with.
