I think Ole Miss would beat Miami pretty handily.

We have seen this script before. A QB playing out of his mind, a offense Bama's defense can't stop. Usually Bama loses this game.

With a 10 game conference schedule, Bama is going to have 2-3 games like that this year.

What a bizarre game. I've never seen such a dichotomy between two Alabama units. The offense played with fire and confidence and were near perfect. The defense looked lost, inept, confused, and disinterested. I dont know what to make of it.

Too tired to start a thread on the scoreboard, but I just realized that LSUs opponents' records are a combined 2-7, both wins coming against LSU.

Alabama's are 4-5, with wins over Florida, Kentucky, LSU, and Vanderbilt.

Ole Miss hiring Lane Kiffin made a big difference tonight.
If they still have the goober Matt Luke on their sidelines, we still get our 60+ & probably win by 4 or 5 TD's despite Golding running our defense.

The offense is coached by a guy who knows what he's doing and has great player leadership at every position group. The defense is coached by an incompetent assclown and has zero player leadership whatsoever.

The morning after optimism

Last time Bama played against a Lane Kiffen coached team...it took two blocked kicks.

Not sure a USC is out there to hire him after 1 yt in Oxford though. So more of the same next yr?

This. This right here. We didn’t get the cupcake/warm up games to work out the kinks. We didn’t spring ball. Moses hasn’t played since ‘18. We are young in the secondary. There is just a lot going on right now. It’s not like Ole Miss hasn’t put up points in their games (35 and 42).

We are playing a straight SEC schedule. If we don’t play our best game all the way around, we have games like this. I think it was partly a trap game...looking at the schedule, coupled with Lane being Lane and scheming everything. To just poor communication and tackling.

A few months ago, I wasn’t even sure that we would have a season. So, I am going to sit back and enjoy all of it. The up’s and down’s. It is a free red shirt season and we get to see if Golding can cut it without losing a “season” on some of the players.

Sit back and enjoy what we have while we have it because it can be gone in a second. RTR!

I think Goldings LB coaching/development is a bigger problem than his play calling.......and his play calling is a pretty big frickING PROBLEM!!

Well I think it’s fair to say Alabama was better last year on defense than this year which is sad and mind boggling to me. Saban really needs to consider changing schemes and firing Golding last night was the first time I’ve watched a Alabama defense play and never had any hope we could stop the opposition. We don’t tackle we have no leaders on defense and plus to make things even worse over the last 2 to 3 years I haven’t seen one player make any type of progress that makes you say wow. All jokes aside tho Alabama will never be Alabama again until golding is gone and saban accepts the fact that we have to change on defense just like he did with the offense it’s time to change on defense simple as that.

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, last season was his free red shirt season. Last year, the defense was decimated with injuries and relied too much on younger guys to fill the void. I don't think inexperience has anything to do with last night's travesty.

It is what it is. Until Golding is gone, the defense will constantly get out schemed, have poor fundamentals, see zero in game adjustments, and have poor communication. There's not another year's worth of experience or new wave of talented 4 & 5 star recruits that will change what we've been seeing.

How is it mind boggling? Look around the conference and you'll see defenses playing like this just about everywhere. No one had a spring and fall camp was abridged. Georgia looks good on defense right now because they haven't played a talented offense yet, Auburn included.

I agree but Georgia is still way ahead of us on defense if the offense stalls vs them they will beat the unholy hell out of us this upcoming week.

It’s mind boggling because Ole Miss is not very talented. They have some good skill people, but up front, we should be able to just push them around based on sheer athleticism. Instead, they pushed us around, stole our lunch money and made us like it. It’s shocking how poor the defense played fundamentally last night. The scheme is one thing and there are huge issues there, but the tackling, the effort, the poor angles, the basics of sound defensive play were just atrocious and worse than week 1. How does that happen? Because you cannot convince me that Ole Miss is that much better than Missou or A&M.

I assume that "How does that happen" is rhetorical because by now I think we all know how and why it has happened.

The implication was that it is a free season for the players. Golding needs to show he can cut it or be gone. I have a feeling we may see a similar transition from Golding to another coach like we did with Tosh...if we don’t see some drastic change.

I'll toss out another excuse. It's lame, but I wonder if the start time changing, even only for an hour and a half later, disrupted Sabans exacting plans.
