We play to our opponent every game. If you like close games this season will be fun. No matter how good or bad the team is, it’ll be tight.

Just watched the game. Yikes. I sure hope it clicks for us these next two games because something just isn’t quite right yet. I’d trim the rotation starting Sunday too so that our SEC opener isn’t the first time we are going from 11 guys down to 8 or 9.

Didn’t Oats say he is going to be trying out different combinations in these games to figure out a permanent rotation for conference play? That’s why we had all those weird lineups at the start and ND made us pay. Wonder what he is going to do now?
Our first game is against Oklahoma and they are undefeated??? I saw them beat Michigan tonight. By the way SEC is killing BIG and ACC so far.

Too many lineups being thrown out there by Nate with only 1 shooter.

Mark/Philon/Youngblood/Aden/Mallette.

3 of those 5 need to always be on the floor to play the 1-3 at all times.

Grant/Reid/Mo D/Cliff

Those guys need to be at the 4/5 at all times.

Jarin fricking sucks. He is just potential. Every time Nate plays him it clogs the game up offensively because we are playing a 3 with no offensive game. He needs to be on the bench.

I like Sherrell but hopefully we can pay him enough to come back next year.

I haven’t even gotten to see it yet but Cliff, Nelson, Stevenson, Reid, and Sears is just a fricking weird starting lineup.

I get that overall minutes and crunch time lineups matter more than who starts, but Stevenson starting 4 straight games is also curious given how’s he’s played.

This will probably get downvoted but I was very disappointed in Oats last night.

1. It was obvious Nate didn’t take that game seriously nor did the players. Those first 10-12 minutes were embarrassing. Everyone knew we would come out 2nd half and turn it on. Problem is by then you’ve let them get hot and start to believe. That’s how you end up with a 7 point win over a quad 4 team.

2. The rotations and substitutions need to get set. Philon played 9 minutes in the first half last night. How? That’s mind-boggling. In Nate’s offense, on what planet does this lineup make sense? Cliff, Nelson, Stevenson, Reid, and Sears. You don’t even have guard four of them behind the arc. Conference play is on us and you can’t continue to force feed guys minutes. If they leave at the end of the year, they leave.

Sorry for the rant. Still think this team has Final Four potential.

So who are the two you would trim?

Jarin just doesn’t have it right now and 11 games into the season, I’m afraid he’s lost all confidence and won’t find it. He’d be garbage minutes only for me for a few games until he shows something in practice. He sure as hell wouldn’t be starting. Nate has basically already done it but Sherrell would get very limited minutes too unless Cliff/Grant/Mo all had foul trouble. If our defense is going to be mediocre regardless, I’d go guard/wing heavy and win with offense.

ND jumped from 313 to 289 in NET off a 7 point loss…smh

I’m surprised we only fell 3 spots to 13, but we’re missing out on the blowout wins against lesser opponents that the NET loves. It was part of the reason we had a top 10 NET with like 5 losses in OOC last year and still got a #4 seed despite a disappointing year. We only have 2 losses, but pretty sure our NET is actually worse this year at this point in the season because of all the close wins against lesser opponents. We could be headed for another 4 seed or even a 5-7 seed if we don’t pick things up and pick them up soon.

It was on the ticker that Creighton got man handled by Georgetown. At least that is who I think it was. they lost by 24. Some of you nerds check my math on that final score please.

3 starters scored 9 total points. Get that shite out of here Oats.

We finished with 14 TO's which means as we only had 1 in the second half.

FT's will kill us in close SEC ball games. Even Sears and Nelson had a few bumps early on shooting FT's

I kind of felt like Nate treated this game a lot like Saban used to treat those early season games that he pretended were just as serious as big SEC games. We went out there and experimented with things and got some guys some experience.

I do feel like we've gotten infatuated with playing a lot of length when all our REAL shooters are smaller.

That said, without a completely predictable unconscious shooting performance by some white dude, we win that game by 30.

There is nothing scarier for an Alabama basketball fan than a white kid on a mid-major.

Yep, that's why those metrics/rankings LOVE teams like Houston and Tennessee. They smother you defensively, which means they absolutely hammer lesser teams.

We let lesser teams hang around and get a rhythm offensively and end up having to win a shootout. But somehow we step up our defense a notch when we play good teams. It's maddening.

I had flashbacks of Billy Donovan at Providence back in the day in the tournament last night.

Shooting isn't the problem. Giving up 90 points to North Dakota is.

Only 1 turnover in the 2nd half.

2nd half was nice, but the first half was ridiculous, as has been the case in several games this season. Against a better team it could have gotten ugly last night. I'm happy that we turned it on in the second half though, and I think the turnovers will be cleaned up eventually.

Eh…defense has been fine for the most part. They had 1 kid get absurdly hot and make contested shot after contested shot. Last night was literally their Super Bowl and they played/shot above their means

Our shooting is kind of a problem. We attempt more 3s than almost anyone yet hit them at an extremely low clip.
