Defense wins championships, even in basketball. Duke locked us up all night. We go from 113 points to 65. That’s what I saw.

Was our best player as a freshman tonight

Only two guys who did their job tonight were Philon and Nelson guarding Flagg.

Not even mad, lost to a better team.

Thank you Sears, Nelson, and all the rest for some great memories the last couple years.

Probably back to back years we get put out by the tournament champion deep in the tournament

Draft boards say otherwise. Derrion Reid hasn’t shown anything indicative of him being a one and done this year. I get you may not like Philon but seriously you’re gonna pretend Reid is better than him?

What’s disappointing to me is that the basketball acumen levels are night and day.

I get it, our game is 5 out and tempo- but we have to have a different plan than dribble iso when we are forced to play in the half court. Duke is running off ball screens for multiple players and getting guys great looks. We just dribble around the perimeter, the ball sticks, and we force a bad or out of rhythm shot. It’s just not sustainable in a tournament setting because you will always eventually run into somebody that can defend 1v1 on the perimeter. We just look so lost if that initial iso drive is cut off. I guess I don’t understand why you have to be one or the other- lightning tempo or able to run set plays.

Lot of thoughts on this squad. In hindsight they were limited from the jump, and injuries really hurt us. Losing wrightsell was tough. Losing Reid for large portions of the year was tough because it slowed his development.

We have got to get longer and more athletic on the wings. You can play a 6’0” 1 if you have a 6’6” 2. When your top 3 guards go 6’0”, 6’1”, 6’4” you are going to get beat by athletic teams with length at guard. That’s just basketball

Duke is going to win the whole thing. No other team in the tournament has their line up.

Nate’s gotta get size. Otherwise same shite will keep happening against elite defensive teams

Agree. It was glaring. Sears and Holloway were way overmatched.

I know a lot of people from North Carolina and none of them are duke fans. Most of them can’t stand duke.

Its surprising to me, too. But it's true.
To try to compare, I'd say it's almost like LSU to Tulane fans as it is UNC to Duke fans in numbers

Really embarrassing

Back-to-back Elite Eight appearances with a first in program history Final Four last year - Bama didn't shoot well tonight against the #1 seed and lost - I'm not embarrassed - maybe this Bama insider role is more than you can handle - I've been a fan for 62 years and have NEVER been embarrassed by young men 18 - 22 years old representing Bama - you owe them an apology - Roll Tide.

I absolutely dig Philon. And I’m not taking about draft boards. Ted will be a better pro

We could've used Estrada tonight. Really liked the way he fit in this offense. Don't think the result is different, but it's a closer game with smarter play.

Facts

Holloway was so lost out there tonight and we all saw the Sears statline of 5 points 5 assists 5 TOs at one point

Ehh, good string of seasons. Elite 8 is nothing to scoff at. Just wished our premier player played like one tonight and it would have been easier to swallow

"Embarrassing". Just rolls right off the tongue, don't it? Especially anonymously.

Losing Wrightsell cost us the one guard we had that could drive and penetrate tonite without stopping their dribble and getting into trouble

You’re crazy if you don’t think Florida can play with them. Florida rolls 4 or 5 deep down low, has a great point guard, and has hyper athletes on the wing. They’re built the same way as Duke with more depth, but their best player is a guard.

Man, I’m tickled to death with our program. I get juiced just because I want to win one in basketball really bad.

Agreed our biggest weakness was lack of length on perimeter this year and not sure Wrightsell would have made much difference though he was our best defensive guard
