He must have made that post assuming DeBoer isn’t inheriting a ridiculously talented roster and that CKD will be walking into a situation akin to the shitshow Sark walked into at UTx.
Wait till he finds out what oddsmakers think about our potential for a natty run next year.

So let me get this straight. You lose the best coach of all time. Ever. You lose a lot of players from the portal draft etc. and next season you will have a BETTER RECORD than last year AND MAKE it further in the playoffs than you did last year? Man, those crimson glasses are pretty thick aren’t they?
Reality check. I know it’s gonna be hard for some of you. Really hard. Because some of you think that there is gonna be no drop off after a roster and coaching change. You are just gonna joyless murderball the entire country. Ok then. But mark my words. You are closer to 7-5 than you are 12-0. Not even saban won 8 games in his first year. Let’s temper the expectations just a fuzz shall we? There’s gotta be growing pains. That’s just a fact. Just take a look at my team. We are loaded everywhere, and just made the playoffs, but I think we will take a step back because of the new conference we will be entering. I have some pretty thick burnt orange glasses myself, but I’m a realist. I see things the way they are and not just some roll tide Willie, we are gonna steam roll everyone’s arse by 30 we play bullshite. Sorry ain’t gonna happen.
Look man I get loving your team. And wanting them to win a lot, but you are crazy if you just think bama isn’t gonna take a step back with a brand new coaching staff and possibly and new quarterback. Just how the cookie crumbles.

Nice assessment. I agree with most of it

I've been here many years actually. I live in Alabama. Marshall county to be exact. So my entire family is Alabama fans. So bama is like my second team sorta, I guess you could call it that. But until I get banned for no reason like I did last time on this board, I'll still be talking football with you guys.

I think scheme will help us in the secondary too. More than likely you won't see us in the pattern matching bump and run man schemes that Saban played for so many years, but we will be in a lot more zone.
It probably won't be as complex and the younger people will be able to step up sooner to help. Defensively we do have quite a bit of experience back everywhere but corner so we will be better than people think, particularly if we find a little more help there in the portal.
Offensively we shouldn't miss a step. We have plenty of skill people IMO we probably have our OT's on campus even although I won't be surprised if they grab one in the portal.

They figured out Mike Leach and Malzahn just fine.
Not every team figured them out. Leach continued to exceed the expectations of every school he went to. I also think that Malzahn actually exceeded what Auburn fans should expect even as late as 2019, especially given that he was coaching against Saban's Bama and Smart's Georgia, but we all know that they're out of touch with where that program really is.

What happened last time Texas played a DeBoer coached team with a brand new coaching staff and new quarterback? I'll hang up and listen.

I’m a realist. There’s absolutely every reason to expect us to take a step backwards this fall. I predict that we WILL lose at least two regular season games and not win a conference championship this year. We will barely get into the 12 team playoff. Then Coach DeBoer kicks the college football world square in the nuts as we win it all.

And it's good to have you. Just because some on this board (me included) see potential upside to this coaching change, doesn't mean we are oblivious to the realities.
Just like the reality of Texas having having lost to DeBoer THIS month.
Bama had become a collection of extremely talented and skilled athletes, but they almost never meshed together as a team, not even for one game. Down the stretch, they were referred to as a 'second half' team, like the Eagles at the beginning of their season? Until both weren't.
And this season wasn't different from the previous. MY opinion - Diva's are a distraction, and have been killing us. But it wasn't always the talents' fault. As noted in the previous page on this thread, the coaches never maximised the gifts of those athletes.
It was said, the LSU receivers this past season caught an incredible 90% of their balls, in stride, allowing them to make an athletic move. They also broke coverage more often. Our offense didn't.
DeBoer seems to have a knack at bringing inferior talent together to perform above themselves. I hope he can do with with the [often] elite talent which is fielded by Bama.
And free advice for Texas [and tOSU]: you may find stockpiling divas, as you've been doing recently, does you as much good as it did for us & A&M. I suspect you already know this... again, because Jan 1st, 2024.

KDB is such a good coach that Bama will remain elite. However, Saban's GOATness should never be underestimated. His greatness as a coach became even more clear in the later years, after Sark and Pruitt left and Bama got stuck with inferior coordinators.
I know these were Saban's hires, but that's not the point. The point is that despite the OC and the DC being pedestrian, Bama as a team did not regress to that level. When we were slipping, Saban always stepped in (and yes, at times at the half).
Saban by himself compensated for the lack of quality production from his coordinators to keep Bama always in games and (almost) always in either the play-off or championship conversation. What an amazing feat.
Next season: no Saban, a staff overhaul, new systems on both sides of the ball, plus some key draft and portal departures. This may very well cause some early season hiccups. But considering:
1. KDB being a darn good coach;
2. How fast he turned Washington around; and
3. The coaching staff as a whole being better than it was last year (on offense for sure),
things will turn out OK.
How OK we turn out to be and how fast, will determine whether we make the play-off. The season after next I fully expect us to compete for the natty.

I'm a broken record on this but the 2024 Crimson Tide's ceiling is mostly going to be how the secondary performs.
I have a lot of confidence that DeBoer and Grubbs will field a good offense. It may end up look unlike what they did at Washington - probably more run and QB run - but it will be effective.
The front seven should be really strong in the interior and there are a few veterans that have waited for their turn behind Braswell and Turner on the edge. Decent chance the front is a top unit in the SEC even after the coaching change. Just haven't had many defections there and a considerable amount of talent is returning.

“ used the NFL as a pipeline to get the best players...stacking up those best players on the LOS and at skill positions is how we dominated”
We’ve wiffed on alot of DL and WR’s the last few years.
