BREAKING: Alabama lands South Florida star WR BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

Jones-Bell wowed onlookers at The Opening Regional in South Florida back in February, earning Alpha Dog honors. 247Sports rates the 5-foot-11, 187-pounder as the No. 85 player in the country. According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Jones-Bell is rated the No. 22 wide receiver and the No. 105 player regardless of position.

Obviously a good get. He has moves and plays well in tight spaces.

I thought it was odd for a WR of his size though that there wasn't a single play on his highlight reel that he lowered the boom. There were a few where his strength kept hom upright after a poor tackle attempt, which is cool, but it doesn't seem like he uses his strength.

All free releases on his highlight video. You would think somebody would try to get up there and jam him.

Who could commit to Alabama next? BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

Alabama added commitment No. 17 to its 2020 class on Monday night with four-star wide receiver Thaiu Jones-Bell making his decision known.

The Crimson Tide’s class currently sits at No. 2 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings heading into the summer with camp season getting set to ramp up.

Of course we’re still at the point in the year where new names can emerge on a weekly basis, especially with strong performances at camp, further tape eval, etc. In fact, recruits can still climb the Tide’s board with strong senior season showings as we’ve seen in the past.

Bottom line: despite 17 commitments on board, there’s still a long way to go.

Here’s a look at 10 names that could conceivably commit to Bama next, based off decision timelines they’ve given, coupled with their interest level in the Tide and vice versa.

*** Considering there's more than just 10 recruits that have serious interest in Alabama, we included three bonus names to watch on the last slide ***
(Just listing the names etc here ... write ups see the article, (it's free))
quote:

Xavier Hill, 3-star OG, Olive Branch (Miss.)
Kendall Milton, 5-star RB, Clovis (Calif.) Buchanan
Bryce Young, 4-star QB, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei — USC commit
Jonah Monheim, 3-star OG, Moorpark (Calif.)
McKinnley Jackson, 4-star DT, Lucedale (Miss.) George County
Reggie Grimes, 5-star WDE, Mount Juliet (Tenn.)
Quandarrius Robinson, 4-star OLB, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin
Ethan Pouncey, 4-star CB, Winter Park (Fla.)
Chris Morris, 4-star OG, Memphis (Tenn.) Central
Jaquelin Roy, 4-star DT, Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab *former LSU commit

Other names worth watching: Kristian Story, Jordan Banks, BJ Ojulari

Referring back to the "explosion" tweet... only see 2 5 stars up there... I would not consider getting 4/3 *'s and explosion? but that is just me.. understand that CNS dont care bout no rating service rankings; but, seems like if you claim a recruiting explosion, you are measuring against what the rating services say???

Scott Cochran is at the Donut Heaven in Prattville. I just walked in with my daughter and he's sitting in there talking to about 5 dudes.

Did he say a recruiting explosion as you say? Pretty sure he just means good players.

I think you pretty much answered your own question. They evaluate the players on their own and do their own ratings/goals.

That said, if you don't think 4 stars are a big deal, then you extremely undervalue 4 stars.

I don't see any high rated WR's on that list. Have to believe we will try to get at least two top rated receivers. Hope Fleming is still a good possibility.

By the way totally agree with your 'explosion' comment. Thanks for the info.
