So who is this WR you speak of? Do you see a single WR listed on that list?

Alabama football was back in N.J. & this public school was the latest to land 2 offers (David Grunfeld, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune)
quote:

If you've got the talent, they'll find you.

And for two Irvington athletes, national power Alabama has come calling.

Nick Saban's Crimson Tide staff was back in New Jersey this week after a recent trip earlier this month and made offers to two current Irvington players: sophomore LB Mikai Gbayor ('21) and current freshman lineman Justin Evans-Jenkins ('22).

Both were first-team All-Freedom White selections in the Super Football Conference in 2018 on opposite sides of the ball -- Gbayor honored on defense and Evans-Jenkins on offense as Irvington finished 8-4 on the year.
Though only a freshman and sophomore, the offers from Alabama weren't even the pair's first offers from the SEC.

They had both previously picked up offers from Kentucky, a school which has had success itself in New Jersey, particularly in Essex County, with former Montclair LB Josh Allen -- a first-round pick in this year's NFL Draft.

In addition to Alabama and Kentucky, Evans-Jenkins has received offers from Kent State, Boston College, Indiana, Kentucky, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, UMass and Cincinnati.
As for Gbayor, he had prior offers from Kent State, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, UMass,

Earlier this month, Alabama was making its rounds in North Jersey non-public circles, extending offers to Class of 2021 defensive linemen Tywone Malone of Bergen Catholic and George Rooks of St. Peter's Prep and freshman Keith Miles Jr., also of St. Peter's Prep.

Additionally, Alabama has had offers already out to Don Bosco Prep's Jalen Berger, St. Joseph (Mont.)'s Amin Vanover and Bergen Catholic's Jordan Morant.

Texas DL includes Alabama among top schools BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

Alabama is among four-star defensive end Vernon Broughton's top six schools.

The 6-foot-5, 286-pound product of Houston (Texas) Cy Ridge released his finalists earlier this week. Other programs in the fold include Arkansas, LSU, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M.

UA defensive coordinator Pete Golding was in at Cy Ridge earlier this spring to evaluate Broughton.

The four-star defensive lineman has four official visits left after using his first to take an in-depth look at Texas on May 3. Ohio State is guaranteed to get one. As for the other three, that's up in the air.

The Tide has a pair of defensive linemen committed already in Jayson Jones and Jah-Marien Latham.

Broughton is rated the No. 5 defensive tackle and the No. 70 overall player
, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

A decision is expected before the beginning of his senior season.

247Sports' Gabe Brooks breaks down Broughton's skillset: "Big-bodied defensive lineman with potential to fit multiple positions depending on scheme. Broad-shouldered and possesses terrific height. College-ready size with frame space to easily get north of 300 pounds with good weight. Has predominantly played four-man end, but likely best fits four-man tackle or odd-front end in college. Flashes impressive quickness off the ball relative to size. Solid tackler who wraps and drives. Shows noticeable close-quarters power on tape. Active defender with a high motor. Engaged and aware vs. the run. Athletic enough to track down plays from behind in backside situations. Does a great job minding pad level and playing with leverage. Shows a promising inside spin move, but will need to expand pass-rushing repertoire. Can improve arm extension and consistency with hands, in both placement and violence. Athletic build for his size, but a bit top-heavy. Power 5 starter and potential all-conference player who should hear his name called in the NFL Draft."

the katy tx kid is pretty good. seems like a throw first run second type. while he throws a catcheable ball, it not always in the optimum position for the receiver to make yac.

Bama has a great chance to land him. Haven't seen much besides UGA around on him, but it's closer than people think.
Bama, UGA, & UF are probably the top 3. Great kid that all three schools are after really hard.

Alabama Football: Crimson Tide recruiting to see big uptick in June Bama Hammer by Ronald Evans
quote:

Alabama football has maybe 10 open slots left for the 2020 class. Every June is big for the Crimson Tide recruiting calendar.

The Alabama football 2020 recruiting class has 17 verbal commits. The latest player to commit to the Crimson Tide was 4-Star, wide receiver, Thaiu Jones-Bell. The talented wideout becomes the latest of south Florida connections going back to Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley and Jerry Jeudy.

It is unfair to compare Jones-Bell with three of the best Alabama football receivers ever, but he is a prized recruit for the 2020 class. At 5-feet-11 and 187 pounds, he has a build making him tough to tackle. He also possesses the skills required to produce early for the Crimson Tide.

Jones-Bell is the fourth highest rated verbal commit in the Tide’s 2020 class, based on the 247Sports Composite. The addition of Jones-Bell pushes the Alabama Crimson Tide up to the No. 2, 2020 class. The top five currently are Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Miami and Georgia.

Even with so few 2020 slots available, much could change on the Alabama football Big Board over the next few weeks. The reason is June is camp time in Tuscaloosa. Eight days of the month will be filled up with camp activities, beginning with a kicking camp on June 1. Six days are devoted to high school camps. Two more days will be devoted to just linemen, on both sides of the ball.

Three names to watch in June are inside linebacker, Quandarrius Robinson (former Auburn commit), offensive lineman, Chris Morris and cornerback prospect, Ethan Pouncey. The Alabama football staff also expects USC QB commit, Bryce Young to visit Tuscaloosa this summer. Alabama football legacy, Reggie Grimes has stated he is in no hurry, but he could jump on board at anytime.

There is some interesting data on Alabama football signees going back to the 2000 class. Based on the 247Sports Composite, of the top 125 Crimson Tide commits going back to 2000, 33 of them are on the 2019 Alabama football roster.

Will the Crimson Tide lose any of its current 17 verbal commits? There will be changes and some of them will occur because of commits sliding down the Tide’s Big Board.

The June camps always result in new offers. The biggest event for June will be the Champions Cookout on June 21. New commitments almost always occur during a big Cookout weekend. A second Cookout will also take place in July after the dead period ends. This summer’s dead period is June 24-July 24.

Camp performance is a major determinant in whether a commitment will be accepted by the Alabama football staff. Since camp performance cannot be predicted, the next commits are also difficult to predict.

Trio of schools have Rivals100 RB Ashaad Clayton's attention Sam Spiegelman • Rivals.com

quote:

Ashaad Clayton has stayed off the radar for the bulk of the spring.

Louisiana's top-ranked running back remains a priority for schools such as LSU and Kansas, who both watched the Rivals100 prospect score three touchdowns in the Warren Easton (La.) spring game over the weekend.

Alabama is another SEC program that remains in touch with Clayton, who broke down the latest in his recruitment with Rivals.
79 NATIONAL 2 STATE 8 POSITION
Ashaad Clayton
6'0" | 190 lbs | RB
Warren Easton Senior / New Orleans, LA
CLASS OF 2020 UNDECIDED

IN HIS OWN WORDS
"It's been going real smooth, real smooth and real nice and smooth, and I'm not rushing anything. I'm open to all schools."

"LSU and Kansas and Alabama are coming at me the hardest. Mickey (Joseph) keeps communication with me on a daily basis, telling me how I can the main piece on offense and be that guy. He tells me the potential he sees in me."

"Coach O literally sat down with my mom and talked to my mom like she's family. That's really heartwarming and it makes me feel comfortable."

"I honestly think the 2020 class, we have a lot of athletes at all positions. Guys like TJ Finley, Sedrick (Van Pran), me, Koy (Moore), I feel like 2020 is gonna have the best recruiting class."

"He (Tony Hull) treats me like family. Coach Hull is like a father figure, more like a mentor. He always makes sure I'm good, always calls me to check up on and does what family is supposed to do."

"I recently talked with Coach (Nick) Saban and if I come there, I could be the feature back. They need a back like me and they think I can really change the program."

Clayton also made references to Georgia, which has continued to stay in touch, and he's eyeing a visit to Tuscaloosa and Athens in the summertime. Don't be surprised if he makes a pitstop in Louisville, which offered earlier in the spring and has dialed up the push in recent weeks.

However, the race for Clayton has always been between LSU and Kansas. He flirted with committing to the Tigers at the end of his junior season, but has backed off that lean in the spring as new offers and visits have popped up. Still, the LSU staff has made Clayton a priority for 2020 and should still be considered the favorite.

Kansas maintains a unique relationship with the Rivals100 back largely in part to Hull and Les Miles, who are also close with Clayton and his mother. Hull took in Clayton's spring game and has a longstanding relationship with Warren Easton, which will keep the Jayhawks in the lead group until National Signing Day.

4-Star RB Prospect Chris Tyree Commits to Notre Dame over Alabama, Oklahoma
Tim Daniels 5/23

quote:

Tyree is a 4-star prospect and the No. 29 overall player in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He's also rated as the top all-purpose back in the group and the best recruit from the state of Virginia.

While the 5'9'', 178-pound rusher lacks prototypical size, he makes up for it with terrific acceleration and blazing speed.

Alabama's Top 25 Most Important Players for 2019: No. 25 BamaOnLine By Charlie Potter
For a fifth consecutive offseason, BamaOnLine is counting down Alabama’s top 25 most important players ahead of the Crimson Tide’s fast-approaching fall camp and 2019 football season.
quote:

We begin our rankings with placekickers Joseph Bulovas and Will Reichard at No. 25.

... But Bulovas will have some competition. Alabama signed the nation’s top kicker in the 2019 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, in Hoover’s Will Reichard. Reichard was on campus in the spring and split the placekicking duties with Bulovas in the A-Day Game. Reichard was 1-for-1 (43 yards), while Bulovas was 1-of-3, booting a 34-yarder through the uprights.

The Tide concluded the spring with two capable kickers, and we have seen Alabama use multiple specialists during a single season. Could that also be the case this fall?

Bulovas kicks off deeper than Reichard, but that probably is just because Reichard is a true freshman and not accustomed to the extra college yardage and needs a bit more leg strength. With the fair catch rules not sure having Kick Offs drop at the 0-5 yard line is such a bad thing? Maybe entice the returner to try for more yardage? Any stop behind the 25 is a win and gives fumbles an opportunity to occur, also.
I noted that during the Spring game, Reichard drove his kicks right down the middle and Bulovas is still pulling his kicks *1st PAT hit the upright and bounced thru
