Seems he's an effective space player, which the backfield may not have right now.

Robinson is a very good pass catcher, but he doesn't have that quick twitch explosion like Townsend.

Big prob for Sark and Tua...
Jeudy, Smith, Ruggs, N Harris, B-Rob, C Townsend/S Bolden, Ford, Trey Sanders, Waddle, Metchie, Shavers (TE's: Foristall etal)... where to put the ball... not to mention Tua's runs
Keep everyone engaged and at least with a touch or two each game... may have to run up scores just to keep all the talent happy with their production #'s

Not sure that will happen.... Team 1st / Hot Hand, etc, etc

quote:

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — 247Sports is once again out on the west coast for “The QB Retreat”, an annual elite quarterback outing that is put on by well-respected quarterback coach Steve Clarkson.

This year’s collection of talent is special and features some top quarterbacks from across the country in the 2020 and 2021 classes, as well as the nation’s top college quarterbacks, who assist as camp counselors for the youth quarterbacks during the event. There is also a fun, yet competitive portion of the event that allows these college signal-callers an opportunity to show off their skills.

Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, ... Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa ...and others are all expected to be in town on Saturday and Sunday showing off their skills and helping the young talent work on their craft.

Regarding the high school talent, DJ Uiagalelei is expected to workout.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star quarterback Bryce Young is a big-time talent from the class of 2020. The 6-0, 176-pounder, who committed to USC back on July 25, 2018, is expected to throw at the event. 247Sports lists him as the No. 18 player overall and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class. He has offers from Alabama, Miami, UCLA, Georgia and many others. The 247Sports Composite lists him as the No. 33 overall prospect.

Marietta (Ga.) four-star quarterback Harrison Bailey committed to Tennessee back on Nov. 29, 2018

Another class of 2020 quarterback to know is Luca Diamont committed to Duke on Feb. 4, 2019.

Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne four-star quarterback Jake Garcia is a top signal-caller from the class of 2021 and he’s expected in town. The 6-2, 185-pounder is still considering scholarship offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Nebraska, Miami and many others across the country.

Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany four-star quarterback Miller Moss

Another notable signal-caller is Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark high school four-star quarterback Aaron McLaughlin. ...the Razorbacks are the perceived favorites per the 247Sports Crystal Ball. WATCH: '21 QB Aaron McLaughlin throws on day 1 at The QB Retreat

Travion Ford plans camps at Alabama, Oklahoma Josh Helmholdt • Rivals.com @JoshHelmholdt
quote:

EAST ST. LOUIS – After a 17-sacks sophomore season, St. Louis defensive end Travion Ford 247 has seen his offer list swell to nearly 20 total schools. The 2021 prospect plans to camp with two of those schools this summer.

“I am supposed to be visiting Oklahoma and Alabama again, going to their camps,” Ford reported.

Ford was just in Norman, Ok, visiting with the Sooners the weekend of May 11 with his teammate, four-star linebacker Antonio Doyle
.
“That was a great experience,” Ford said. “They treated me with a lot of love, all of the coaches.

“They said I would be a good edge rusher for them. They said I would be like Ronnie Perkins
, he came to (Oklahoma) from my school and is really good. He’s probably going to get drafted out of there. He’s supposed to be training with us in the summer and I’ll ask him some questions.”

Ford has also previously been to Alabama, but that trip took place last November to see the Crimson Tide face rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

“I talked to Nick Saban a little bit,” Ford said. “My dad, he was excited to talk to (Saban). I was happy when they offered me, and I was surprised too being a No. 1 team.”

A unique prospect who played primarily with his hand in the ground as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3, 207-pound Ford is being recruited for both the linebacker and defensive end positions by different schools.

“I am trying to go somewhere I can start as a freshman or see the field,” he noted.

After CU offered, they were #1... recently Bama has lot of buzz and may well be #1
EJ Williams (247) Phenix City, Al 4* WR 6-3

HUDL - EJ Williams - Central - 2019 The Opening Atlanta - Watch 4-* WR EJ Williams make plays at The Opening Atlanta

HUDL - EJ Williams Junior Season

Per Twitter of Chad Simmons • Rivals.com @ChadSimmons and other sites_[quote] "If I had to say a school at the top right now, it would be Alabama," He has visited Bama a lot and talked with HCNS... but Ross was penciled in last year right up to NSD...
Expect a commitment this August 24, in honor of his father's passing, just hope he remembers Julio, Amari, Calvin, and all the other WR's in the NFL (along with those leaving after this season... making mucho room for the next guys up....

Will Bama be able to hold off CU and the allure of playing with his friend J Ross? Will UT's promise of early PT win out? If I had to guess right now, I would guess EJ will "Slide" into Aubarn with a lake... and play for the fightin' Daboes

E.J. Williams ?? @_ejda1 Mar 2
A college commitment is like marriage... once I commit there is no more college visits??

Every Reggie Grimes one-on-one rep from The Opening Regional BamaOnLine By Chad Carson

quote:

Mount Juliet (Tenn.) High defensive end Reggie Grimes earned an invite to the prestigious The Opening Finals following his performance at the final regional event at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., last Sunday.

Above you can watch every one-on-one rep from the 6-foot-4.5, 240-pound Grimes’ performance at the event. In the testing portion, Grimes clocked a 4.69 40, 4.29 shuttle, 32-ince vertical and 39-foot power ball toss. That effort equated to a 109.11 Football Rating and was among the top 25 scores at the event.

“Grimes has really blown up physically over the last year, he tested really well and with a 4.69 40 he can kill you with speed,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons said of his performance. “He will need to continue to improve instinctively and develop a counter to his speed, but the Alabama legacy is a rare athlete.”

Five-star ATH Darnell Washington names top schools By Hank South
quote:

The Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines product was on campus last month for an unofficial visit.

“Just their history,” Washington said of what he likes most about what the UA program offers. “They’re known for putting guys in the league. I saw something earlier on social media about how many five-stars go to Bama and get drafted, it’s about 50 percent. It’s a 50/50 (chance at Bama), whereas other schools it’s like 20 percent. Just Bama’s history and what they produce.”

Despite being designated as an athlete, it's tight end where the Crimson Tide is recruiting the nation's No. 2 athlete. In fact, most teams are recruiting the 6-foot-7.5, 248-pounder at tight end.

On the visit to Tuscaloosa, Washington had a chance to sit down with his primary recruiter Jeff Banks to talk about the tight end position, in particular Irv Smith Jr.'s breakout season in 2018.

“I love hearing about that with Jeff Banks and going over the film and seeing what he was doing this season and stuff like that,” Washington said.

Washington is rated the No. 14 overall player in the country regardless of position, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

247Sports compares Washington to the Arizona Cardinals' Ricky Seals-Jones (via Blair Angulo)

Tall frame with broad build. Carries 240 pounds well, but looks maxed-out physically. Long strides as a runner and good speed for his size. Strong pass-catcher who is a matchup nightmare in the red zone. Uses his body well to shield defenders. Big target who can run past most linebackers. Decent hands and can high-point the football. Could use refinement in route running and fluidity. Must also make strides as a run blocker. Potential to make an immediate impact at Power Five level as true freshman. Upside as second-round NFL Draft selection.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball is currently trending in favor of Alabama at 67 percent.

Tim Watts offering up a Memorial Day Recruiting nugget?
same pic used by Tim also at this link... FSU OL Landon Dickerson back in the transfer portal By 247Sports |May 23, 2019 By: Josh Newberg | Noles247
quote:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (247Sports) -- Florida State offensive lineman Landon Dickerson is back in the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to a report from SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic.

This isn’t his first time in the portal. Dickerson entered his name back on Feb. 13 and removed it on Feb. 18. Currently, Dickerson has his name in the portal with a “Do Not Contact” designation.

Dickerson, a redshirt sophomore last season at FSU, sprained an ankle in the season opener against Virginia Tech. He returned versus Louisville, but suffered an 'unspecified injury' in that game and did not return the rest of the season. He only appeared in a total of two games in 2018. In 2017, Dickerson started the first two games before missing the final nine due to injury. He started seven games as a true freshman in 2016, but had his season cut short due to an ACL tear.

It’s unclear at this time if Dickerson fully intends to transfer. He can still remove his name for the portal at any time.

Coming out of high school, Dickerson was a 4-star prospect, the No. 4 ranked OT in the country and the 31st best player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Find discussions and references to his wanting to trfs to Bama... ??? with his injury history imagine he will be a potential experienced OL (assuming he is Grad Trfs (as redshirt soph, should have the time in to be a grad, if he has applied himself). Would he be a replacement for Womack? Leatherwood? Wills? Brown? would he want to come and sit with the hope that he will stay healthy and able to win playing time? If he were an ILB...now maybe I would be 'cited...but with the OLine on board...not sure there is a need for an oft injured OT

Lots of questions and maybe not many answers... trust in the Saban if this is a ploy to get the Oline to work harder? great...

Alabama visit coming up for 4-star Tennessee ATH Darin Turner Woody Wommack • Rivals.com @rivalswoody
quote:

THE LATEST
Early on in his recruitment, Class of 2020 Rivals 250 athlete Darin Turner had a great feeling about LSU, so much so that he jumped into the Tigers class with a commitment. That pledge stuck for quite sometime, until Turner decided earlier this year that he wanted to take another look around. Now, the Tigers are out of the picture and he's focusing on several other options, most notably Alabama. Rivals.com caught up with Turner recently to talk about the Tide and his plans to get back to Tuscaloosa for a visit soon.

IN HIS WORDS
"I'm going to camp down at Alabama next month. I'm liking Alabama a lot. For right now, that's the only school I'm planning on camping at and whatever else comes my way I'll look into them. Right now Alabama is at my top and that's my priority to get down there again."

On which position he would play for the Tide: "I'm straight at receiver but if a school wants me to move to another position I would like to move to the defensive side of the ball. I could play safety or outside linebacker."

On other schools in the mix: "My Top Five right now is Alabama, Miami, Arkansas, Georgia and Clemson. I'm going to visit all five of those schools again."
