our fanbase has absolutely lost their damn minds at this point. it’s fascinating to watch.
tua’s triumph has validated some of the worst delusions of some of our most delusional fans. i can’t wait to hear how the backup qb actually is better and saban actually does care more about loyalty than winning from mouthbreathers like huddie for years to come. gonna be a wild ride.

If I understand what this disjointed mess of a post is attempting to communicate, let me just say you’ll wait till hell freezes over to hear people say that our new backup is better than the old one.

After watching the CFB Final again. I can understand why Nick didn't start Tua over the course of the year. He has been in the program since the spring, he did make a lot of Freshman mistakes and we had some breaks. Thankfully, none of them bit us in the arse
Yeah. He still has to improve if he wants to hold onto the starting spot.

I watched the second half again last night, and I came away still worried about our offensive line next year.
One of Tua's biggest strengths is pocket awareness, and his ability to keep his eyes downfield. Even so, he was under pressure much of the time. I'm not sure the OL blocked any better with him in the game vs. Jalen (as has been supposed); he was just better than Jalen at staying pass-first when the protection broke down.

A more successful QB (execution) makes everybody better in that the defense just can't key on one area. Instead they must defend the full 53 yard width. I find the Tua still made mistakes crowd laughable. The kid was asked to save the NC stating the 3rd Qtr. The OL could look better because #13 gets the ball out earlier than #2. The RB's could look better because the defense can't put 8 in the box because #13 can throw it all over the park. I expect 80% of the posters never played a down. Then again as Dirty Harry said..."you knew your limitations".

They are being ungrateful towards Tua as payback for what they feel was unfair treatment of Hurts. They fantasize that had Jalen played the 2nd half, we would have had a chance.
But we all know we had no chance and it would have gotten ugly. It would have been humiliating... probably a gassed defense giving up 30+ and probably a shutout. It would have been played up as the end if the dynasty and devastating for recruiting.
It’s a team sport. And we win or lose together. But what was proven beyond all doubt is that against good teams, the quarterback makes all the difference, not just in the passing game, but in the running game as well.

For what it's worth, Tua had to be placed in that game. We had no other choice.
My statement was solely, I can see why Saban didn't start Tua earlier due to Saban's comfort level in playing no turnover football. Is it right or wrong? you can debate that all damn day.
Tua played well but didn't play mistake free football. Putting a true freshman in the title game is a high risk/high reward. Should he be starting, yep. I think he is a phenomenal talent. Does he have to improve, yep. Who doesn't?

Did Jalen play mistake free in the first half?

Well this thread went to shite. I knew better than straying into here.

I love Jalen and I am very grateful for everything he has done and accomplished while leading us for the past two seasons but there’s no way anyone can look you in the eye and say that Tua doesn’t improve the offenses productivity all around.

No, I think the majority thinks that Tua should be the starting QB. Jalen is a GREAT kid and I hope he turns into our Kodi Burns/Terelle Pryor by switching positions.

This thread may be considered a punishment thread for a few since we have a few that will always hijack a thread to start the debate no matter the topic is but they find a way to bring it up. Since they only post about the QB situation it is like they are being grounded to use this thread only.

A Tua safe space. Much needed.
The mere mention of the name triggers many.
No snowflake zone.

I do not think anyone has an issue with Tua being talked about. The issue is some can not talk about Tua without talking negatively about Hurts in the same discussion.
There will be a lot of talk come spring camp if both are still on the roster and hopefully by then both supporting camps can actually talk about the situation without bashing the other to prove a point. Something that has yet to happen on this board.

RCT - It's not about playing mistake free football. Nobody is going to play mistake free football.
It is possible to put forth constructive criticism without tearing down player or making condescending remarks, maybe not as much fun for some of you, but would probably lead to fewer personal attacks. Tua will have limitations or room for improvement; just like Jalen has. From all appearances Tua has a significantly greater upside potential. Tua is going to sling it where Jalen ran or threw it away. There are going to be times when that does work out. It didn't always work out for Bret Favre; it won't always work out for Tua.
Hopefully, people can be a little more tactful in their criticism of Tua than they were with Jalen. Hopefully, people can also be more accepting of the criticism than they were with Jalen.
Tua did make some mistakes in the game, but wow...you have to be excited about the potential of the downfield passing game with the receivers we have.
Roll Tide!!!

I definitely agree that Tua should be the starter while I also hope that Jalen makes a switch or finds a role on the team. Jalen can catch from what I’ve heard and that would open up all sorts of wrinkles that we could add to the offense.
