Even though Deion Sanders signed his contract, Colorado Athletic Director Rick George said that the school doesn't have all of the cash available right now to fulfill it, but will in the future...
quote:

"We don't have the money yet, but I know we'll have it. I'm not worried about that piece," George said.
Buffalos alum expect a call if you already haven't.

I watched the video of Deon walking through the Colorado facilities. They are top notch. With Boulder's location and close flight to west coast, he should be able to recruit just fine.

How broke do you have to be to admit that out loud? And if you don't have coach money, I'm guessing NIL is nonexistent, so who are you gonna recruit? Colorado was a strange choice by Sanders. Cindy seemed like a better choice.

Well, NIL money doesnt come from the university so that's not an issue. I expect there will be at least some local businesses in Boulder that can pony up some money but I would bet that Denver is going to be the biggest hot spot for NIL money for them.

His biggest obstacle is that the admin is radical people who hate football.

Not really surprised that the athletic department doesn't technically have authorization yet to make payments on the contract but things like this have a lot of moving parts that require some accounting, new budgets, meetings with advertisers, sponsors and boosters. Moving funds around and getting proper authorization for salaries is a nightmare.

When is the last time an AD has ever admitted this during a coaching hire? Seems odd.

during? shite, he saved this morsel until after the ink was dry for a reason. LOL

This AD is an idiot.

Dumb contract offer.

He easily could have been had for probably half that. College administrators do nothing but throw around Monopoly money... regardless of where it's coming from. Agents make ADs their bitches and force them to like it.

Ok CHAD from tigerdroppings… how many D1 coaching deals have you handled behind the scenes?

You just say no. You move on. If you're not willing to do that, you have little leverage. But why would any of these ADs do that if it's not their money?

Typical government employee - just spending $ not available.
State level is millions while federal level is billions and trillions.

Only a small portion of coaches salaries actually get paid by the school. The school is basically a middle man between advertisers, boosters, shoe companies and marketing deals. I remember reading somewhere that Saban only really gets paid like 250k from the school's general fund.

Dumb. Students don't pay for football coaches salary at the P5 level.
