ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that former LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan is expected to be hired as Kentucky's offensive coordinator under new head coach Will Stein.

Sloan was LSU's quarterback coach from 2022-2023 and was promoted to co-offensive coordinator in 2024 when Mike Denbrock left LSU to return to Notre Dame.

Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports also confirmed Thamel's report.

On a positive note, does this mean LSU doesn’t have to pay the full buyout?

Guaranteed Stein will be calling plays. He wants Sloan to dip into Louisiana recruiting.

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Kentucky is going to regret that hire. Did they observe no game film?

Did we not overwhelmingly agree Nussmeier refused to throw the ball over the middle when it was provided? Also working for coach Kelly didnt help.

I still don't know how much was Sloan, and how much was BK not securing a decent O-line and forcing Nuss to play hurt.

Considering LSU was horrible last year as well, I'd say it had a lot to do with Sloan. They problem was that the horrible OL and Nuss at QB compounded the problem to a level of ineptitude that I haven't seen in a long time. The bad OL play and Nuss' injury exacerbated the horrible Sloan offense. Relying on Nuss to create probably killed the team more than anything. He couldnt run the football to create opportunities. He was the worst deep ball passer I have ever witnessed starting for an SEC school. He also routinely made horrible decisions with the football in his hands.

Good. No need to defend the middle of the field on pass plays or the QB on RPOs when we play Kentucky next year.

They won't have Nussmeier so you could probably backtrack your statement. Just saying.

Poor Kentucky. I wished someone like A&M or Ole Miss would’ve gotten him so they could be miserable. I feel bad for Kentucky. Someone gave them horrible advise on Sloan.

Kentucky is screwed.

Get ready for the most vanilla run scheme in the SEC.

Get ready for runs on second and long.
