WGNO TV reporter Ed Daniels is reporting that former LSU DL coach Pete Jenkins has been added to the LSU Football staff. This will be Jenkins' fourth stint as an LSU assistant coach. Jenkins first worked as an assistant at LSU for 11 years ending in 1990. He returned to coach for Nick Saban for the 2000-2001 seasons, and then for Ed Orgeron for the 2016-2017 seasons.

LSU has been without a full-time defensive line coach since the beginning of preseason camp when Jimmy Lindsey took a leave of absence to deal with medical issues.

Better than nothing I suppose.

Good coach, at least CBK is moving on something to improve the defense. Better than nothing, Pete knows his stuff.

Might have been nice to have this before Ole Miss.

Inexcusable, by BK to have gone this long.

About the only move he had at this point. All the active "good" coaches are already coaching. At least Pete was available and knows his stuff and LSU.

Pete is one of the finest coaches in CFB history, but he is 82 years old.

Coach Kelly is in year two and ya’ll act and sound like the sky is falling. This is LSU in rebuild mode after being left with 39 scholarship players. It’s unfortunate that assistant coaches can not be relied to properly fill in for each other, but we fans do not know the whole story of what is happening behind the scenes. I’m guessing that Coach Kelly has a plan much better then any of you clowns could come up with on your best day of coaching.
Let the man do his job and quit with all the critical comments.
I’m not happy with our defense but our team has pride and will bounce back if you will support them instead of taking them to the woodshed.

Hopefully he can still coach them up. There should've been a replacement way before now.

I honestly didn’t realize BK never hired a replacement DL coach. That seems like an odd decision.

How utterly irresponsible of Brian Kelly to allow this program to go without a line coach since Jimmy Lindsey took a leave for health reasons. It is his job to put the program first and he didn't do that. It is a dereliction of duty and failure of leadership. It is a board of supervisors failure a TAF failure to not require that he have a legitimate replacement in a long time ago. Who does he think he is and where does he think he is coaching and getting 10 million a year to do it.

And when you do not have a permanent defensive line coach in place, recruits will go elsewhere because they do not know who their coach is going to be. And we have lost dline prospects in this cycle.

LSU is going to be in deep doo doo when Jenkins can’t come in to save them. I’m losing faith in Kelly.

Those arguing that Kelly should have hired a new defensive line coach need to actually think about the situation instead of reacting like a bunch of unruly toddlers. Lindsey is on medical leave. He hasn't resigned, so unless LSU wanted to fire him, we can't hire a permanent replacement. Also....remember when this happened. How was Kelly supposed to hire a new D Line coach on the spur of the moment just as the season is starting to crank up?! Kelly tried to cover the D Line with coaches on the staff, but that obviously hasn't worked. Who knows? He might have reached out to Jenkins earlier and been turned down. In any case, this is a bad situation, but there's not much Kelly can do to fix it until Lindsey's health situation is resolved one way or another.

bullshite. Kelly made a mistake. Steeples should be replaced and not having a DL coach was terrible. Even a temp guy like Jenkins shows the proper urgency. Too late though

The problem is why did he wait til almost halfway thru the season? We’ve had 2 defensive backs coaches and essentially 2 linebackers coaches but 0 def line coaches since august.

He shouldn't have hired a replacement at d line for a man on sick leave, He should've hired a Real Replacement coach instead of plugging with a Zero experience coach!

Call me when Kelley gets brought out in 4 years.

This will continue until Kelly recruits better. Kelly gets paid enough to have top notch coaching staff. Not happy losing 3 games per season.
