And these are the figures CBS is willing to admit to. I wonder how high the numbers really are?

No, that was William Jefferson from New Orleans. He went to jail for it.

It's amazing how "efficient" and accommodating they are when voting at the end of a gun. Let one dissent and vote "No" against Xi and see how that works out for them.

Pet chiropractor?
Sure, I guess there's a specialty for everything. Our Vet is trained in animal acupuncture. She works with horses and dogs mostly. Our dachshund had severe spinal issues and this helped her mobility for quite a while. Honestly, it wasn't too expensive compared to surgery that had no guarantee of a good outcome. I would recommend you look into it if your dog has spinal issues causing temporary or onset paralysis from injury or old age.

Losing Underwood puts a lot of pressure on Nuss
No, it doesn't. Nuss is Nuss and that's all he needs to worry about. Different guy at a different time. He needs to play HIS game and not worry about guys before him. He can leave his own mark, better or worse, and that's fine. He wants to be here, love's being a Tiger and has put in the work. No need to heap more unnecessary pressure or unreasonable expectations on him. Just be a fan and support him. History will take care of itself. The pressure you are speaking of rests squarely on the coaches who put this team together.

Since Iran loves to arm them and use them (Hamas) as their proxy, drop them off in Iran. Initially, Egypt and Lebanon need to house some of them. :dunno:

re: Memorial Hospital after Katrina
Posted by Techdog89 on 1/13/25 at 9:54 am
I'm a little biased here because Dr. Pou operated successfully on my step-daughter who had cancer right before Katrina. She was wonderful then and through the years as my step-daughter recovered and dealt with new challenges. But, Dr. Pou was target by the then A.G. Foti as a scapegoat for the problems in the evacuation that led to the deaths of several critically ill patients. The environment and the necessary method of evacuation led to those deaths, not the caregivers. Her team attested to this in court. Only when seen in the exact environment of excessive heat, darkness, lack of power, sewer issues and people trying to get into the hospital to break into the pharmacy for drugs, can you begin to understand what Dr. Pou and the hospital staff went through. Did any of you know that she was actually off then and went in to help her patients? She could have evacuated with her family but chose to stay for her patients. She was a saint to those in her care. Her staff and those present attested to this. If she has retired, I wish her a quiet and peaceful retirement that is well deserved. Thank you Dr. Pou!

re: Is abortion modern day child sacrifice?

Abortion is worse. Ancient child sacrifices were performed with the mistaken belief that it would ward off evil or ensure blessings. Abortions overwhelmingly are done because a pregnancy is inconvenient. What other times can a human kill another human simply for convenience?
Exactly right. I'm sure someone will try to make an argument that ancient child sacrifices to the God's for protection was some noble effort to benefit all. I can see someone try to do that, but I still say it's evil and absolutely wrong. Nothing noble here. However, today abortion is exactly as Goforit stated, used for convenience. A quick solution to bad decisions and choices. I'll add that it's just another form of birth control for many. A very selfish, flippant, evil act. I'm a Christian and do wonder how we Christians will be judged for not stopping this. Any other entity that takes the lives of this many Americans would provoke outrage and immediate action from most in our government and most of our population. Just my 2 cents.

I drove 22 hours from Denver to Baton Rouge nonstop. Won't do that again. From snowing hard, then sleet, then rain. Miserable driving conditions.

This^^^ is because they have government/taxpayer provided pensions so they get a reduced SS benefit. Think about how many Americans have no pension......a lot.
Remember the American Rescue Plan that the Dims and Recucklicans passed during COVID19 Hysteria? There was approximately $35 billion from that stimulus money that went to the Teamsters Midwest Pesion Fund to bail out that mismanaged pension fund and a lot of the money came from millions of taxpayers who don't even have a pension.
These pensions were not given to the employees for free. I personally pay 9.5% of my earnings into mine and it's mandatory. Some more, some less. The employer pays too but the employee's wages don't reflect the market either. So, you work for less but have a pension. So, let's not confuse the issue by thinking that those receiving a pension have no skin in the game. The issue of Social Security should not be an issue, but it is. Millions of people paid into both Social Security and to their own pension plan. Why should they have their Social Security benefit reduced because of the pension? You already get less because you can only claim the years you paid into Social Security. The years you paid into your government pension don't count which already reduces the benefit. Further reducing it is stealing. That happens to no other group except those with a government pension. It you have a pension with Exxon, Dow, Walmart, name a company, then no offset. All we are asking is that we receive our full benefit based on what we paid in, nothing more.
re: Impossible to buy old men gifts

My grandkids and wife (no pics, we're old) always ask over and over again what I want for Christmas. I will usually pick something really simple, not too expensive or a gift card to Academy, Lowes or Bass Pro. I'll be 61 next month and I've reached the age where I don't really need more useless trinkets. It's wasteful to me. I buy what I need most of the time for projects around the house or working on cars/truck/camper/tractor. I'm not so much in the acquiring stage of my life any longer. I get more pleasure in blessing others or receiving a card/note from my granddaughters, that my wife and I raised. I'm pretty simple. Life is nicer that way. Merry Christmas and may God bless y'all!
re: So what's fall leaves etiquette?
Posted by Techdog89 on 12/19/24 at 11:15 am
I have great long-term neighbors of 20+ years. We don't get into those issues since everyone just picks up or mulches the leaves, pine straw, etc that falls in their yard. If limbs fall from my trees into the neighbors yards, I pick them up and put them on my burn pile. I'll even grab limbs from their trees if not too far away and put those on the pile too. We all have yards that are about 2.5 acres. Big yards, lots of trees. We even mow each other's yards when any are out of town for a week or more. Not everyone is that kind but you usually get treated the same as you treat others. Golden rule works mostly.
