Los Angeles Chargers assistant offensive line coach James Cregg has agreed to be LSU's new OL coach, according to multiple reports.

Cregg will replace Jeff Grimes who expected to be named BYU's new offensive coordinator on Thursday.

Cregg has coached in both College and the NFL and worked with LSU head coach Ed Orgeron at Tennessee in 2009 and at USC from 2010-13. Per The Advocate:

James Cregg, an assistant offensive line coach with the Los Angeles Chargers, has agreed to be the Tigers' new offensive line coach, a source confirmed with The Advocate on Wednesday night, just an hour after reports of Grimes' exit emerged.

Cregg, a native of Syracuse, New York, helped lead the Denver Broncos to a victory in Super Bowl 50 during his three-year run, 2014-16, in Colorado. Cregg spent five seasons coaching on staffs with LSU coach Ed Orgeron: 2009 at Tennessee and 2010-13 at Southern Cal.

Apparently coaches who have worked with O before are willing to work with him again. He must be somewhat agreeable to work with....

Do we want to recruit in the south? Honest question. Doesnt seem like LSU is one to churn out alot of quality O-Line guys to the NFL. Wouldn't mind getting some studs with his connections.

It’s sure nice to have a HC with NFL connections. This sounds like a good hire, although we won’t know until next season. Still, I’ glad to see Grimes is coaching through the bowl game. Continuity is important on that O-Line!

I will reserve my opinion until a few games into next season.

Wonder what impact, if any, this has on the decisions of Clapp, Weathersby, and Brumfield.

They've all requested evaluation grades from the Draft Advisory Committee.

Every junior that's decent gets a draft grade. What matters is the grade they get, not who the OL coach is.

That is not true. I'm not sure the actual number but only like 5 or 10 guys can request evals from the league.

I think Coach O can keep the four OL in this class intact. Now it's about 5 stars OT Kenyon Green and OG Kardell Thomas in the 2019 class. I read in a article I can't remember which one it was Green or Thomas said as long as Grimes was here then they would be. I think one of the first things new OLC James Cregg should do is touch basis with them young men and let them know it's all good in Death Valley and that they are still priorities. I just hope he can recruit because say what you want about Grimes he could recruit and coach 'em up. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN?????????
