BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (July 18, 2025) -- Texas has been predicted to win the 2025 SEC Championship, according to a preseason poll of media covering SEC Football Media Days.

The Longhorns received 96 votes to be crowned SEC Champion on December 6 in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with Georgia being picked to be the Texas’ opponent in a rematch of the 2024 SEC Championship Game. Georgia received 44 votes to win the SEC Championship.

The participants of the SEC Championship Game will be determined during the regular-season conference schedule as the teams with the two best overall SEC winning percentages.

Only 10 times since 1992 (33 years) has the predicted champion prior to the season at SEC Media Days proceeded to win the SEC Championship Game.

The 2024 SEC Championship Game averaged 16.6 million viewers across ABC and ESPN, the fourth-largest audience on record for the game. The overtime win for Georgia, which peaked with 19.7 million viewers, delivered the largest audience of the college football season — surpassing the previous high set by the regular season matchup between the same two teams. Overall, the SEC title game last season delivered the third-largest regular season college football audience ever on the ESPN family of networks.

I can not remember one year where they had zero, 0, 1st team Defense pre season players. Their dynasty is over, it’s our time now.

This might be the wildest this list has been for me. Sellers 1st team? Barion Brown 2nd Team? The all time leading return TD guy in the SEC is 2nd team? LOL OOOOOKayyyyyyy

In sports, the best competitors use disrespect as motivation. This disrespect is just what the LSU players need. They are not even mentioning our DLinemen.

Who do you think LSU has on the roster right now that has played and shown they're better than who they listed here? They may have someone who ends up that way but it's not exactly unreasonable. The one I see that's ridiculous is Arch Manning he hasn't done enough to be ranked over some guys he's ranked over. Sellers has huge potential I don't mind that pick honestly. SC should've been in playoffs last season.

Pyburn, Payton, and several DB's to name a few

Arch is the 3rd best qb in the sec without ever starting a game? I like the kid but damn the media makes me want to root for him to fail.

I would take dj lagway over sellers ever day of the week

This is a nonsense poll. I was told that less than 20% of the attendees even voted. Not even the press wastes their time, so I suppose we shouldn't bother getting upset at all by the skewered results lol

A good coach could take that 2nd team and beat the first team. I’m not even saying they got it wrong, but there are a lot of good/really good players in the SEC this year without as many true known superstars as there normally are.
