Lane Kiffin Blasts Potential SEC Transfer Rule: "Can't Imagine A Worse Decision"

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin isn't a fan of a potential SEC rule change involving the transfer portal.

According to a Yahoo Sports report, the conference is considering reviving a policy that would require players transferring between SEC schools to sit out one year before becoming eligible to play.

During his radio show Thursday night, Kiffin strongly opposed the idea.

Kiffin said he "can't imagine a worse decision to make" and added that "other conferences would celebrate that rule" because players would simply transfer outside the SEC, according to Jon Blau.

"We'd just be handing away a lot of players every year and limiting them that they can't go to other SEC schools they grew up fans of," Kiffin added.

The SEC previously eliminated its intraconference transfer restriction in 2021, allowing players to move between conference schools without sitting out a season.

No decision has been announced on whether the conference will reinstate the rule.

No it won’t. The other 15 schools will defend this guy no matter what he does.

Kiffen should've said he loved it, so the sec would do the opposite.

He’s right, you know. I’m not a huge fan of today’s portal world but you have to take advantage of the rules because everyone else surely will. Why handcuff SEC teams.

This rule is so short sighted that the idea must have come from politicians.

I hate the new portal stuff but Kiffin is right, that's insanely dumb. So any kid who transfers from an SEC school is never staying in the SEC. Why would you do that to yourself?

Funny thing is that if the SEC does it, it can happen. If the major conferences all agree to do it, it is collusion and open to lawsuit.

There is no way the sec is that dumb. Only way that works is if the big ten, acc,, and big 12 also follow suit.

I honestly believe they have figured out that Lane is going to turn LSU into a 500 lb. gorilla with a chainsaw dick and are determined to cock block him at every chance in hopes that he gives up and moves out of the conference.

So dumbass Skanky wants to make any player transferring to another SEC sit out a year. Idiot, so colleges pay NIL bucks for a player and he has to sit and wait a year. Ridiculous to even consider such a stupid move. Why even bring it up Skanky. Your fired!
