For whatever reason, these JaMarcus Russell highlights from 2006 against Mississippi State went viral on social media this week.

And we're glad they did, because it's always fun seeing JaMarcus sling it around...

2006 should have been a Natty. That team was really good. Couldn’t defeat the fake PI in Auburn.

actually the our own conservative game plan is what beat us. Finally in the fourth quarter they took the leash off of JRock BUT when he got to the 30 yard line, the conservative stuff came back.

It was clock management. Miles loved that strategy.

Barely even looks like he’s trying and the ball comes out like a missile.

Man, loved how he stepped up in the pocket. Effortless darts. Had all the physical tools to be great in the NFL. Wish him the best.

Bowe Davis Doucet. The first wide receiver trifect that we had. They started it all.

Not quite. Clayton, Henderson and Green started it all in 03.

I remember being in the student section for the play starting at 40 seconds, rolls right and just flicks it 60 yards like it was nothing

This is the throw that stood out to me too. It truly looked effortless, and he hit the guy in stride damn near 60 yards down field with a wrist flick.

The man threw a great ball no doubt

The biggest thing I remember about the Russell era is that I had a racist family member who just did not like when LSU had a black QB. He would criticize every little mistake that Russell made and every ‘Wow’ play was dismissed as “any college QB can do that”.

Damn, that’s fricked up. So what did that racist family member think of Jayden?

The Arizona St. game is the one I remember.

Still awesome to watch his highlights. I will still say one of the greatest throws I have ever seen was in the SEC Championship game against Georgia where he rolls and flicks the ball nearly 70 yds on a laser to which Bennie Brazil caught it in the endzone. There was a penalty that wiped out the play but that was one of the most impressive throws I have ever seen.

It was absolutely a thing of beauty watching JR go back and throw the football.....such a smooth delivery. And if he got pressure, no problem...he'd just side step them and remained poised.

If another QB had a stronger arm than him I'd like to see it. Amazing how Jimbo could get a QB to play in college then just completely fall apart in the NFL

He was great at LSU. I really thought he'd have just as good of a NFL career.

The WRs were underrated. Dwayne Bowe being 3rd best behind Davis and Doucet lol

I wish JaMarcus had played like this in every game. We may very well have won a natty in 2006 if he had done that.

The two games we lost we averaged roughly 2 yards per carry. And the turnovers against Florida were on Helms and LaFell

Russell fumbled on th 1 yard line sneaking in from what I remember. It wasn’t on Helms.
