The Kansas City Chiefs waived former LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on Monday. Per Yahoo:
quote:

Edwards-Helaire had a standout rookie season with Kansas City in 2020. He tallied 1,100 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns as the featured back for a Chiefs team that went 13-1 in a COVID-shortened campaign and advanced to the Super Bowl won by Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Edwards-Helaire played three more seasons with the Chiefs and won Super Bowls in each of the last two seasons. But his role and his production dwindled in each season after his rookie campaign, and he lost his starting job in 2022 to then-rookie Isiah Pacheco.

The Chiefs placed Edwards-Helaire on the non-football illness list Sept. 2 ahead of their season opener, and he has not played in a game this season. Edwards-Helaire previously announced on July 29 the he's been living with PTSD.
Here was the farewell message that Edwards-Helaire sent out on Monday evening:

No disrespect to CEH, but I forgot he was in the league.

Someone is going to pick up a quality back with a lot of tread on the tires.

The shoestring catch on third down in the 4th quarter was the play of the game. If they don't convert that first down, could have been a different outcome.

Most people forget how crucial that was. Bama was getting all the momentum and Clyde took it right back.

I am going to rewatch the 2019 Bama game so I can watch Clyde take over again. Was something special.

That and he threw off Bama defenders who probaly weighed 40 lbs more than him when he had no momentum really going forward. 2x. To get in endzone on bottom of screen play

He is reportedly no worth $5 million. Decent investments will keep him living a great life. Good kid.

There’s still a chance he lands somewhere too. If he wants, I’m sure. He may not be RB1 anymore but he’s certainly talented enough to be in the NFL.

We'll always have the Bama game. I'll always remember the time he shot a dude who was trying to steal his PlayStation, and then two weeks later played in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.

Why would you wish that on CEH? He’s been thru enough trauma.

If he needs to go to another team, let it be Cincy. He can be the third down back and another option for Joe.

“ 1 receiving TD”

Wasn’t that the wheel route against Bama right before half?

Love CEH but he has been a non factor for years. They even did him a solid by keeping him on this year but it was time to move on.

“They even did him a solid by keeping him on this year but it was time to move on.”
Highly respected by teammates, Big Red & coaching staff, & team management. Not only is he eligible for full NFL retirement package, but NFL pension with 3 full years on an active NFL roster.
My buddy & former teammate got his and it’s a hell of a package to have in your back pocket as a 30 y.o..
