While speaking at the Baton Rouge Rotary Club this week, LSU head coach Brian Kelly spoke about the Tigers' week 1 matchup vs. Clemson and referred to the team's stadium as “Death Valley Jr.”

On Thursday, Clemson defensive end TJ Parker was asked at ACC Media Days about Kelly's comments:

Don't blame him for defending his team...however, most college football fans outside of northwest south carolina know where the real death valley is.

It was settled on January 13th, 2020.

Every year this yankee calls out a decent week 1 opponent and gets his shite pushed in. You would think by now he would learn to act with quiet confidence and humility. Total chaos move.

Kelly needs to focus on actually having his team ready to play for once

Agree, as a college player myself, let your talking be done on the field. Teams that talk shite before a game usually lose. Was not very wise to call Clemson Death Valley Jr.

It's fine to run your mouth when you back it up. Lose again for the 4th year in a row and this shite will be brought up a million times. Time to show up

I think it was settled in 2019.

I would be dropping roses on Clemson in public and saving that shi… for the locker room. That’s just me though.

People need to quit being pussies! There's nothing wrong with a little trash talking. It's not like the quote will have any impact on the game. The better team will win when it's all said and done, and nothing that either coach says will make a difference.

It has nothing to do with trash talking. The problem is he has done nothing to back it up in opening games. He does it every year only to look like a complete moron after losing.

It has an impact on preparation. It’s motivation. It’s extra. Why give them that. He hasn’t won an opener. That is hollow pussy talk. BK doesn’t scare anyone. He needs to focus on having his team ready. We used to stomp people in openers or were usually ready to play at least

It’s heating up, excellent. If the Tigers lose it won’t be because of anyone’s comment.

83k < 102k, so looks like jr. to me.

As much as I hate to admit it, theirs was actually Death Valley before us, so Tiger Stadium is actually Death Valley Jr.

One can totally make the argument that theirs should be more of a Death Valley Lite, holding significantly fewer people and not registering anywhere near the same historical home field advantage or noise levels...(hence TS being known as DEAF Valley, before linguistics and pronunciation evolved into DEATH Valley later on).

I’ve never understood the bulletin board angle. Of all the sports I’ve played and playing one on multiple levels, I’ve never needed something said by the other teams fans/players/coach to pump me up. I always went out wanting to beat the shite out of/punish the other team. I didn’t need to hear something negative about me or my team to convince me to play harder.

But you are playing them at Clemson. It will make the crowd even more crazy now. BK needs to just shut up already

This is correct. Big Mouth Brian needs to STFU.

That might be true UNTIL we shut them up with our play. See that’s the thing about hyped up crowds, it can give lots of good energy to the players but when you shut them down, it can also deflate that energy. It works both ways so LSU just needs to not shoot themselves in the foot or hand momentum over to Clemson once we take it. Keep that momentum on our sideline and we take the game.

Clemson’s stadium capacity 81,500, The Real Death Valley 102,321!! ?? Annually Ranked as the Hardest/Loudest College Football Venues:

1. Tiger Stadium (LSU) – “Death Valley”
   •   Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
   •   Capacity: 102,321
   •   Known for: Night games, deafening crowd noise, and wild atmosphere.
   •   Notable: ESPN once named it the scariest place to play at night. The stadium has registered decibel levels over 130 dB, comparable to a jet engine.

He was just saying the obvious. But it's not going to have any bearing on the outcome of the game, so stop wringing your hands folks. The best prepared and talented team will win.
