LSU coach Brian Kelly spoke with reporters on Monday and was asked about linebacker Harold Perkins and their plan to get him more involved in the defense.
quote:

"We go back and forth about Harold's production and wanting to get him involved as much as we can," Kelly explained. "Part of it is setting him up for success and getting guys in the right place at the right time. And part of it is that the players need to make the plays as well."

"We continue to look at, 'Are we better suited in nickel personnel or three linebacker sets?' It's a continuous search of trying to get him into a position where he can impact our defense the most. We will continue to work on that this week and see where we end up on Saturday."

He is not a MLB PERKINS 3 tackles 9 tackles for PENN. He is a rush OLB at 215-220 lbs.

From a post I made earlier:

I think HP needs to be used more like a Von Miller type player. During his freshmen year we just let him play and Boom! I don't think he's a good fit a MLB. It requires a ton of responsibility, Kelly evens says in the article that he needs to narrow his focus. I'd put him on the edge and let him be GREAT. with all his athleticism he's a liability in pass coverage.

I feel like there's more to this. Wonder if Perkins camp is insistent on him playing MLB and we just dont have a scheme for the MLB to be aggressive?

Put him at outside linebacker and let him spy and blitz, simple... NFL teams will know what to do with him but if you make it to where his name is never called you are going to lose him millions

Pathetic. BK is nowhere near the coach he was advertised to be. Absolutely average at best

Perkins agent told LSU 2 years ago to move him to LB or he was leaving, because he's too small to play DE in the NFL.

What a complete moron. You have arguably best defensive player in the country and can’t use him correctly

It’s not continuous. Just fricking do it. Your ENTIRE fanbase wants it…go down with the majority and you won’t look as stupid.

It's honestly pathetic how much this dud'es talent is wasted here. All-time frick-up. He should have transferred.

We’re in year three and Kelly still doesn’t know how to properly utilize Perkins. What a waste

You could start by running packages that have him on the field EVERY SINGKE SNAP. How the hell does it take 3 years to figure out how to get one of the best players in the country “more involved”? That isn’t even borderline stupid. It’s complete ineptness.

Brian Kelly gets part of his $10 million a year for that kind of answer.

Year One : Guy Makes All of His Plays Off The Edge

Years 2 & 3 : He's a Middle Linebacker and Disappears

IT"S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE
