During his radio show on Monday night, head coach Brian Kelly told the audience that he is hopeful that Garrett Nussmeier will return to the team next season instead of entering the NFL Draft.

Nussmeier, a junior from Lake Charles, La., has passed for 3,458 yards and 23 touchdowns with 11 interceptions on the season. Getting him back for another season would provide a major boost for LSU's offense in 2025.

I remember reading something similar about Daniels before his final year. Lights do come on sometimes in the final college year...Burrow/Daniels are prime examples.

Yeah, pay players more than a Boyd professor and roll the dice, right??

If Garrett can follow "The Burbank Joe Summer Plan", next season could be very special.

Garrett....We need ya, pal.

Our best QBs did thier best work in year 2. Both Burrow and Daniels were average to below average as year 1 starters before blowing up in year 2. If history repeats itself, Nuss should have a phenomenonal year.

No doubt he can make all the throws. Just has to learn when to either throw it away or run for a few positive yards and slide. Doing just a little running would open things up tremendously. Hope to see him in LSU uniform for another year!

Any semblance of a run game would make his life a little easier.

Couldn't agree more, if we give him a legit running and Playaction game he could be top 2 QB next year. Putting him back there with no running game throwing it 50+ times is a QB killer

Agree on all counts. A running game and using his legs to pick up some first downs to keep the defenses honest. Joey B did that without great speed and it makes such a big difference. Starting over at QB next year would likely bring more heartache.

Another year of college football would be very beneficial to Garrett and the Tigers! Pay him more NIL money, he wants to be here and an LSU Tiger!

Could the "summer of 10,000 passes" be reseditated by Garrett to formulate key passing/receiver excellence for the 2025 season?

I think Garrett did a good job for his first year but don’t believe he is ready for the NFL.

Garrett Nussmeier needs a Seasoned OC to work on all his issues.. Foot Work, Reading Coverage, Learning to be a Onfield Leader. He hasPro ability , Needs much refinement. Also at times looks a little cluckee with Handoffs, Fake-handoffs, and Does't play action well. And of course MUST Run the Ball is he plays in the Run-Pass-Option .... Personally I feel we need to get under center 50% of the time.

Do folks who don’t want Nuss to come back for whatever reason have any idea where we would be without him? Despite the two and a have games brain fart the entire team had, I think Nuss did pretty good for a first season starter. You would expect a second season growth spurt that should benefit us greatly, I for one hope he comes back.

Most of our offensive line is gone next year. You think Nuss will do well in that situation? Get real. We need a mobile QB if we expect to win more than 8 games.

You are 100% correct! Most NFL analysts has Nussmeyer as a top 5 QB in the draft.

No what we need is a balanced offense. Build the offense around his strengths instead of shoehorning him into exactly what worked with Jayden

Nussmeier is very similar to Daniels during the 2022 season. Both took too long sometimes to make decisions, were not that accurate on long passes, and the game seemed a bit too fast for them. Daniels worked his arse off with the VR simulations and quickened his decision making and improved where he went with the ball. Also, he improved his long ball accuracy. I'm not saying Nussmeier will win the Heisman if he comes back but those are specific improvements he can make if he comes back.

He is 100% coming back, either LSU or he will transfer. Kid is not ready for the NFL not even close.

Nussmeier has to be asking who his tackles would be.

He'll make a big jump if he does come back, as long as the pass pro is solid.

What QB doesn’t make a big jump with good tackles

If I had to guess it will be RSFreshmen on both sides unless some great OT jumps in the portal and we throw tons of NIL at him. But most likely some combo of Weston Davis, Tyree Adams, or Ethan Calloway
