Four-star LSU defensive tackle commit Jaquelin Roy announced that he has reopened his recruitment and has de-committed from the Tigers.

Roy, a 6-4, 300-pound prospect from University Lab in Baton Rouge, LA went public with his decision on Twitter Thursday night.

Roy originally committed to LSU back in September of 2018, choosing the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida State, and others.

He is rated the No. 9 defensive tackle in the country, and the No. 2 overall player from the state of Louisiana for the class of 2020, according to 247 Sports.

Recruiting is such a joke these days

The only thing that is a joke is taking a commitment without a LOI. NCAA should not allow schools to accept commitments from kids who haven't taken visits and or younger than a jr in high school. No reason kids to make a commitment to a school more than 2 years away from going. Too young and immature

While it sucks to lose a commit, shite happens. What's worse than that IMO is this "please respect my decision" garbage. Whether we respect your decision or not should be no concern to you. Just tell us why you're flaking and be done with it. It just sounds insecure, bratty and demanding when they add that. And they ALL do it now. Makes me respect them a lot less when I'm told to.

Focus on players in and out of State who want to be part of the Tiger family not guys who need to be babied through the process for 2 plus years. We should be and are bigger than that.

Go look at his tweet when he chose LSU. It says, "I am 110% committed to LSU and I would like for you to respect my decision."

Pre signing day commitments are so stupid. Words mean nothing anymore. Committing without signing is nothing more than lip service. Reopening reopening recruitment is nothing more than attention whoring.

100% correct. Getting excited and upset over anything until a kid signs is nuts.

You are the last person to talk about respect after what you did to your family.

Uhigh's head coach from last year (and several years before that) is now Walker's HC.

Well its clear the kids there still are influenced by the new Walker coach. Gotta cycle this anti LSU way of thinking out. Too many good athletes to lose year after year after year after year.

All this time spent worrying about Amite- we need to figure out why LSU is struggling to get these kids from UHigh

that's easy. They already have spent 4 years on campus. If you go to lsu its almost like you are on campus for 8-9 years...

U HIGH kids have a since of entitlement. Most of them were "recruited" to attend U High in the first place and don't reside anywhere near the school. They are attention whores who want play somewhere they are practically guaranteed to win a championship.

Most of them are going to Bama. It's easy to figure out why.

Respect his decision? Hell he doesnt respect his own decisions, funny stuff!

Hey younglings... People WILL respect your decisions when you learn to respect your own. Learn the concepts of "commit" and "decide" and you may very well earn "respect."

That said, enjoy the free trips and tickets to games. If you did the work to put yourself at that level, have some fun with it. We want you to come back home as an actual 100% commit, with ink on paper.

Hope he just wants to reap the benefits of recruitment. But this is one of the reasons I don't consider anyone a Tiger until they sign the dotted line.

Why LSU puts up with this crap is beyond my understanding. This is a situation that LSU Administration should address.

It's a process! He committed to LSU without reaping the rewards of being recruited. No one is gonna invite you to thier campus or give you tickets to big games if they know you aren't interested in going to thier school. Let him enjoy the process! He's earned it. He may very well recommit to LSU in the end anyway.
user avatar
StupidBinder83 months
Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Except...if that’s what he wanted then why commit early in the first place?
