Four-Star DT Jaquelin Roy Decommits From LSU

Four-star LSU defensive tackle commit Jaquelin Roy announced that he has reopened his recruitment and has de-committed from the Tigers.

Roy, a 6-4, 300-pound prospect from University Lab in Baton Rouge, LA went public with his decision on Twitter Thursday night.

Roy originally committed to LSU back in September of 2018, choosing the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida State, and others.

He is rated the No. 9 defensive tackle in the country, and the No. 2 overall player from the state of Louisiana for the class of 2020, according to 247 Sports.

Why is everyone crying over the decision a 17 year old made? Recruiting is a cut throat game. Don't put any stock to a verbal commitment. Wait until it's official, but don't get on a message board and take shots at these kids. Think back to when you were 16, 17 years old.. How would you have handled having all these big time universities coming for you every day?

We will end up getting the number 1# DT anyway.. the only reason we didnt last year I bcuz they told everyone that spot is for Sopheir.. I hope they stop doing that, the kid that went to Texas anthony cook want I the year B4 saved a spot for the corner and got burned.

Hope he just wants to reap the benefits of recruitment. But this is one of the reasons I don't consider anyone a Tiger until they sign the dotted line.

I believe that recruits should have to sign a LOI if they 'committ' to a program. This would keep those that aren't sure from changing their mind 4,5,6, or more times.

Hey younglings... People WILL respect your decisions when you learn to respect your own. Learn the concepts of "commit" and "decide" and you may very well earn "respect."

It's a process! He committed to LSU without reaping the rewards of being recruited. No one is gonna invite you to thier campus or give you tickets to big games if they know you aren't interested in going to thier school. Let him enjoy the process! He's earned it. He may very well recommit to LSU in the end anyway.

The only thing that is a joke is taking a commitment without a LOI. NCAA should not allow schools to accept commitments from kids who haven't taken visits and or younger than a jr in high school. No reason kids to make a commitment to a school more than 2 years away from going. Too young and immature
