Ed Orgeron and the LSU coaching staff landed a big commitment on Friday from 2022 four-star quarterback Walker Howard.

Howard is the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard who played for the Tigers from 1992-1995.

The pro-style prospect from Lafayette, La, chose the Tiger over offers from schools like Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Penn State, Arizona State, and many others.

Howard is rated the No. 3 pro-style passer in the country for the class of 2022, according to 247 Sports.

We acquire qbs now. That’s a very, very healthy sign.

Amazing what winning a National Championship, beating Bama, and having a Legendary, Heisman winning QB break damn near every record all in the same year will do. Just think what these other schools are saying to recruits. No longer can they tell QBs to not go to LSU because you will be wasted. Lol.

And now we know what to do with them... The rest of the country should be scared.

Jamie Howard was a tough dude. During his time at LSU, the OL was atrocious. To say he took a beating on a consistent basis would be an understatement. In fact, Jamie sustained a shoulder injury while playing football for LSU that also ended his professional baseball career. He was in the Atlanta Braves minor league system, and was a hihly-regarded pitcher. They had plans to eventually make him a closer.

So if they bring him off the bench against Auburn in 2022 we’d have Howard Jr. vs. Nix Jr? Surreal.

I’ll take our junior over theirs.

I've never really seen him play, but the young man has already won me over with that tribute to his Mother. NOTHING is better than having a good Mother. I lost mine to pancreatic cancer, so I can empathize with what the young man went thru. Hope he has a great career at LSU.

I'm just gonna take yalls word for it, about the tribute, I can't watch stuff like that, after losing my mother to breast cancer, after she beat it. we thought we we're good and it came back and got her the second time

He was a class act during some very tough years. Would love to see Jr. bring it home for the Howard family.

Man, Jamie Howard was a solid player who gave the Tigers everything he had. Now he gives us his son. Sad that this story is marked with tragedy but these tough men continue on anyway.

Lol. #1 for sure #2 is a definite for me as well. I remember as far back as Nelson Stokeley at QB and listening to John Ferguson.

#3 pro style passer in the country is a 4 star?
user avatar
Datbayoubengal59 months
they usually are. We won't have that many 5 star QBs in the 2021 class when it's over.

That's probably the biggest misconception that I see among fans that don't get into recruiting that deep. There are years where the whole state of Louisiana doesn't produce more then 1 or 2 5 stars. Hell, I think masson Smith is the only 5 star in the whole state this year. We will get him too. Korey foreman is the number 1 player overall in 2021 and he wants to play with maason or mason, the 5 star. We have two more guys, that were at one time 5 stars, committed.one is an edge guy and the other is more of an outside linebackers but will rush the passer too.oh and by the way, we lead for the number 1 overall player in the country for 2022 and he is another guy that will play on the edge somewhere, Either olb or d end.depending on his size and the package we play. Just know this, coach o is in the process of building the best front 7 Lsu has ever had. Hell, we may be there already

I knew his mom and her family growing up. All were great folks. KD was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She had every reason in the world to be "better" than you and never even thought of it. Happy for this kid and his family.

Jamie Howard got a bad wrap. If he had Joe Burrow's coaching staff, it would have been a different story. Glad to see no bridges burned. Walker will do well.
