re: Predict LSU - Bama score this year
Posted by MJG on 11/3/20 at 11:42 am
Say what we will regarding Saban (I call him the "little traitor"), I cannot see him running up the score that badly. He would have all third string guys in before 77 points. Or perhaps you weren't being serious?

I think Woodward should negotiate for the postponed game being at LSU on 12/12. To make up for Florida forcing LSU to play there two years in a row. What do y'all think?
re: Aug 14 is deadline to opt-out... wth should I do??

I've got nothing in mail about my season tickets, much less requiring some deadline. They can't require something they haven't notified us of, in writing, by mail.

It still pisses me off that Bama was put into NC over Oklahoma State. Not even winning SEC west, Bama should not have been there. I don't see it on this thread, but having to beat a team that you've already beaten, a mulligan game, is like climbing Mt Everest. When two teams split two games, the game that counts for everything is arbitrarily the second one because...?
I resent Herbstreit for vocally campaigning to deny Oklahoma State the NC game. I do think he swayed it to Bama.

OP, good point. However, I'm curious how much that deal is softened if a lot of season ticket holders choose it. Those points are relative and the more people who take them, the less they benefit the taker. Guess we will see.

Disrespect for Brennan is by those who didn't see him smash state records in HS. He had games where he threw so many TDs in first half he sat out most or all of second half. Yes, I know it's not college, but it IS "doing something". He is already known for his dedication and hard work, for learning from Burrow, his accuracy, and very importantly- like Burrow he has graduated and can study opponents all week long.
re: Jimbo Fisher hit with a show cause from the NCAA

"the head coach failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance" Well that pretty well sums up Fisher in general. The way his coaches, players, and nephew acted like thugs following their lucky win in 2018 reflects on him completely.
I and others really hoped he wouldn't come to LSU, the way Fisher let the FSU program run into the ground. So glad he did not, especially due to his lack of character.

Anyone remember Ronnie's older brother Maxie? He was also a D lineman at LSU but unfortunately died in a car wreck after his freshman year. I ran across him in ROTC drills. They say he was strongest player on the team and could have been outstanding like his brother.

Ditto. At the very least he looks like he would definitely contribute a lot to the team. LSU shouldn't miss out unless there's a 5 star safety still out there that could be pulled in.

"eye test" stands for complete subjectivity. BS

I'm sure the media and computers all did in 2007 as well. Although the reasons given sound reasonable, the arguments against fall on deaf ears. Hope it goes at least as well as NC of 2007! (But the regional bias will continue unabated regardless)
Anyone know if ESPN replays the A&M game this week?

I'd appreciate scheduled replay info.

Hmmm, I hope Guillory was just there to root for Tigers and perhaps do some recruiting?

re: Hot take: John Chavis was better in his first 3 years and 4 games at LSU than Arandas been
Posted by MJG on 9/28/19 at 12:44 pm
First, I don't agree that LSU doesn't have talented DL. It's the coaches' jobs to get max out of each player, and have them working as a team. And it's the DC's responsibility period. He needs to get the assistants to perform. No excuses. Certainly not having great recruits, if true, would be on him as well as others. A great defense doesn't require excuses.

Forget comparisons to Chavis and anyone else. The question is, will Aranda get this defense fixed and looking like one coached by someone making the money he does? Time will tell, but the defense is badly underperforming so far. Yes injuries hurt, but that doesn't excuse how poorly this defense is playing. Reminds me of Lou Tepper days. I do think Aranda is capable of a lot better, and hope it turns around before it results in a lost game, when the offense can't outpace the points the defense is giving up.
re: Is Orgeron a top 2 or 3 SEC Head Coach?
Posted by MJG on 9/12/19 at 10:19 pm
Saban is a great recruiter, knows how to use his bag men, but he is NOT a great x's and O's guy. Remember "kick six"? Remember how he got beat down by Bama at LSU? Remember how he got it handed to him by Debo early this year?
re: Mike the Tiger comes in at #2 in espn all time mascot poll

You might have remembered a fan who brought his own juvenile tiger on a leash. But it was outside the stadium. I do remember thinking that was crazy dangerous.
re: I am so pumped about this year I finally feel like we will beat Bama
Posted by MJG on 9/10/19 at 2:11 pm
I'd love that too. But I was at the game and the defense didn't look like an LSU defense at all- for the most part. If Aranda and coaches fix those problems, Id say we have a good chance. If not, the offense alone will not beat Bama. Besides, worry about winning the ones before them.
