I thought he would win big at UF. I think most people did.

Said it 5 years ago. He never should’ve left State. He had a lifetime job there if he wanted it.

Odd choice by Espin. Mullen isn't exactly Mr. Personality!

He actually did quite well on the ESPN coaches feed for the NC a few years ago. I'll be interested which analyst chair they put him in.

Mullen is actually a funny guy and an interesting interview tbh. Occasionally he is still heated over a game. Without the coaching/game aspect, he will kill it in an entertainment/analyst role.

Will he provide his expertise on recruiting?

I love how ESPN continues to hire former head coaches that were failures.

So you think they'll pull in Saban next year?

I mean it makes sense to hire former coaches as analysts right? Although Mullen hasn’t exhibited any personality in public.

I wonder how many coaches will not want to deal with the new NIL situation. Players needing to get playing/tv attention time to meet their individual NIL deals, is going to be a mess to deal with from the coaches that are set in their pre-NIL ways. I'm wondering if that is in part why Gary Patterson stuck to being a "special assistant to the HC" at UTX. Plenty of money, and just has to give advise. I have a feeling a part of the reason he left TCU was due to what he was seeing NIL wise.

About time ESPN had a scientologist perspective on football. /s

Are they going to force him to say SJW stuff, and slide in little grooming comments?

Guy knows a lot of football, just not recruiting. This is a great pickup and it's nice to listen to him talk Xs and Os.

It's like he was at Florida for a cup of coffee. Florida needs to realize it's no longer a football school, never was really.

"Florida needs to realize it's no longer a football school, never was really." .... come on now, Florida was dominant in the 1990s under Spurrier, and then again in the 2000s under Urban Meyer. They won 3 NCs in 12 years. They've struggled lately (particular at QB) but to say they've never been a football school is just absurd.

Remember kids, Merlins never got outcoached. There are plenty of times he was let down by his players underperforming to his standard... #GoDawgs

When I saw Mullen laughing it up following his loss in the Egg Bowl I knew he was weak. Some folks got it in ‘em and some simply don’t.

When I saw him dancing in the locker room after they had to come from behind to beat lowly Samford I knew something wasn't quite right with him.
