Burns’ historian, whose name I didn’t catch
I believe Geoffrey Ward is the writer since he's been credited as the writer of the series and the "companion book". I watched the behind the scenes preview a few weeks ago and it appeared to be written over the past 7-8 years with a few years of post-production. His experts screened the rough cut to "verify authenticity". De Rode's presence is interesting as she hadn't gotten her PhD until 5 years ago. The last 2 nights she had almost as much time as everyone else. So hardly a last minute insertion nor someone who was there from the start like a Stacy Schiff.

Robert Morris is a name i haven't heard in decades (outside of his namesake school's basketball team). I came into the series with an unbiased mindset. Maybe even pro-Burns because of his Baseball and WWII series. I have a feeling that I will notice a ton of biased crap when I watch it a second time.

Looking back he really went heavy on the Indian angle. In many of those cases it was a 18th century FAFO situation. He hammered the pay (maybe they believed in the cause more than money???) and GW/TJ slave ownership. I think you could make a case for this being the first time it was given to the audience with a British prospective. Hell even the French caught strays.

He just couldn't help himself...

Made an obvious attack on Trump and then doubled down by listing the SECOND amendment further down when he was listing him. I guess I'd be a bit irritated too if my meal ticket (CPB) just got whacked. The problem is that many of us supported him through purchasing his releases of books, soundtracks, and videos. I just requested Amazon to cancel delivery of the book tomorrow. I'll get it through other means. frick KEN BURNS!

ETA: This seems to have been the coming out series for Iris De Rode. Easy on the eyes and I can't wait to read her book on the French & American alliance. So much meat was left on the bone when you factor in King Louis losing his head, Napoleon, and Europe's interference with the USA in the first two decades of the 19th century. Burns is pivoting to outright liberal bootlicking over the next three years. I doubt we'll see him covering any other American wars.
I think it varies. Sales of any kind on physical media disappeared when Best Buy stopped carrying them. The one exception is the 50% off Criterion deals but that runs a few times a year. I've been using CCC for years and the deals in general just haven't been that great. I ordered the companion book for The American Revolution today and they had a big "Black Friday Deal" tag on it. The discount on $40 was 42 cents. (I would've bought it for $50.)

This has certainly lived up to expectations. I may have to go back and watch his Vietnam series. I'm hoping we will get a "lesser known wars" series by Burns. 1812, Spanish-American, and Korean would be great for a 3 night/6 hour set. I think the ship has sailed but WWI gets shunned and deserves at least 2 nights too. 99% of the population doesn't realize just how much The Great War set the stage for WWII and the second half of the 20th century.

15 minutes to go until Part 5 and my wife declared she's tired of George Washington cockblocking her.

Fast food needs to lower their profit expectations and they would actually make more money
Blame the left and their "livable wage" whining. McJobs aren't meant to be careers. The corporations have forced their franchisees to take on the increased costs dictated by the company...while refusing to offset part of those investments in their royalties.

I was editing some pre-Covid football games the other day and the ads put it into perspective. $2.49 triple cheeseburgers...$1.29 McDoubles....$1 four piece nuggets...2 for $4 Arby's sandwiches. All of this before the $15 per hour push/Covid stimulus inflation. They scream about livable wages and "the rich killing the middle class" but it's been the rich staying rich and the politicians making the lower middle class into the upper poor. It's a nasty cycle that is now making eating out tolerable only for the upper middle class while a luxury for everyone else.

All that food for the same price as a box combo from Canes
And they haven't shrunk their burgers. Cane's strips are almost as small as Wingstop's boneless wings. (Cane's would be screwed if they ever sold their sauce in grocery stores.)

Is hendry still on tna? Seems like he’s been almost exclusively nxt for a bit
He's NXT. In the past month he's been on NXT several times and hasn't been in tna at all.

Trick makes sense if they don't want to let him put Hendry over but want to emphasize the WWE-NXT crossover theme.

Cena has never been IC champ. After beating Dom, he will have held all the belts.
That's crazy. So he wins it here and drops it to Hendry in DC?
It's really shitty that TKO took money for Cena's last match (DC) over doing right by Cena (Boston).
Woke up to snow this morning and spent most of the day in the ER with LD. (Thankfully Mrs Dawg tagged me out a couple of his ago.) CT Scan, highly detailed MRA on his brain, MRI on his neck, and now they're waiting for another MRI for anymore look at his brain tissue. Long story short, the two of us are trying not to show it but we are freaking out. Each hour seems to be leading from where we were at 10 (minor stroke) to now thinking CTE or a more major stroke.

Tonight looks like a good RAW on paper. Hoping to escape into some quality sports entertainment for the next few hours.

For some reason she was the first Sydney to come to mind.

What if the allies took out the USSR while they were weak after Berlin fell?
A others have said, weak but very strong supply lines >>> soldiers who've been stuck across an ocean fighting a European war for 4 years. Stalin showed no regard for human life (sound familiar?) and would've pressed Eastern Europe's forces into the Red Army. We would've suffered similar losses to what was forecast if we had to invade the Japanese mainland.

I think we lost the plot in our zeal to avenge Pearl Harbor. Yes, when we dropped the bomb it ended the war (before Stalin could move even further into Indochina). However getting there meant a situation where a handful of well placed Soviet spies were able to help the Soviets build up a nuclear program with the recipe already written. Stalin viewed the alliance as a way to get cozy which let him siphon western knowledge. We never trusted him fully but we did drop our defenses just enough that it still bites us in the arse.
I lasted 5 minutes this week. Not that RAW was much better...

NXT's 2 hours on Tuesday may be the best of them all.

When they told us they needed to talk with us, that was the immediate conclusion my wife came to.

I thought he was still in high school?
He graduated in May. The decision was a buzzkill to what was a rare nearly perfect sports weekend. I've never been a fan of this girlfriend but Mrs Dawg seems to like her. 18 years went by way too fast (take note rt).
