Players being paid is as old as college sports itself. How do you think Nebraska and Tennessee got prime Players in the 80’s and 90’s? NIL just tells us what these players would have gotten under the table

NIL has ruined college sports and it will kill it. Why would anybody watch a bunch of kids get paid to play football when they can watch a bunch of men who get paid to play football?

The same reason why people buy tickets to watch kids play football. Not sure your point

So has Texas politicians given them some kind of an advantage here recently that they didn't previously have?

That's a pretty good sales pitch for an 18 yr old who doesn't know A&M from A&W.

"A&M from A&W." both soft and frothy.

They are so desperate to win. Throwing money everywhere to try and get athletes that would have never gave them the time of day 2 or 3 years ago.

The new NCAA Prez spoke about all of nil during one of the CWS games. Good interview and really seemed to open up. Though he talked about how he needs to figure out how to get it to work for the schools and athletes/their families, he kind of forgot how the fans/alums that are seeing the college game turn into a minor-pro league.

Also, said how they have to figure out how to protect kids that are getting a lot of crazy messages on social media. At this point if they are getting paid lots of money as their job to play they don't get the "kids glove" treatment they had when they were "student athletes". It's a tough world out their on social media, so play in it the sandbox at your own risk if you want to make that chedda'.

There are still a lot of college athletes that don’t get squat so it seems those kids should have someone looking out for them. The NCAA president wants that 2nd team swimmer at some directional school to know the NCAA has their back. Hard to give an interview and say “hey you kids who are in sports nobody really cares about, we are going to look out for you since you only got a $500 stipend from your school’s collective. Those guys who got a 7 figure deal, f them. Their mercenary arse can take care of themselves.”

Looked and sounded like some training video you sleep through at work. Everything they do just falls flat
