Young Reporter Surprised With Amazing Moment With ESPN’s Marty Smith After LSU/Bama
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
After Saturday's LSU vs. Alabama game, WRBL (Columbus, Ga.) sports reporter Jack Patterson was doing a prerecorded standup TV spot from inside Bryant-Denny Stadium when he he flubbed a line. From out of nowhere came ESPN’s Marty Smith to support him and give him a moment he'll never forget...

Here's that selfie...

Never been much of a Marty Smith fan. But I will certainly view him differently moving forward. What a kind thing to do.

I'd never heard of this Marty Smith guy till this year, is he fairly new himself? Props to him though, the young guy seemed to know who he was.

He did nascar for years until a couple years ago when he started jumping into football and other stuff. Always seemed like a cool guy.

That is awesome. Earned my respect. Could have laughed or got proud. Instead helped him out with no reward except encouragement. Props.

Still don't care for Marty Smith for all the bad mouthing of LSU. Soon as LSU won, he was like a bandwagon groupie.

Marty has went from a guy I didn’t really care for, to one of my favorite reporters. He seems genuine and passionate about everything he reports.

I think this is close to how things are (a brotherhood) than the negative publicity the profession gets...mostly from all the crap that comes out of ESPN.
