Barry Switzer Names 1 School Is Hurt Most By Oklahoma & Texas Joining SEC
Larry Leo
Former Oklahoma and Arkansas coach Barry Switzer shared who he thinks hurts most from Oklahoma and Texas joining SEC, and who benefits from it. Per Hawgs Illustrated...
quote:

I’m glad to see this,” Switzer told Clay Henry of Hawgs Illustrated. “I think it helps Arkansas. It can’t hurt.

“First, it expands their recruiting territory. Now there is little doubt in my mind that Oklahoma and Texas are going to continue to get five-star players. But there are lots of good players left and Arkansas has won with those good players before and will again.

“What it does most is hurt Oklahoma State a hell of a lot. And that helps Arkansas.”

“I believe that,” Switzer added. “I really don’t know what OSU is going to do about it.”

I disagree. I think Arky and A&M get hurt in this deal. They no longer have that SEC card to play in recruiting battles with Ok and Texas.

that's my thought although Arkansas hasn't been recruiting quite the same players as big 12 teams favor. If Texas and OU start recruiting olinemen like they will need, that will hurt Arkansas a lot. Those two teams will need far better speed and bigger stronger olinemen.

Which A&M? Texas or Louisiana?

Arkansas was never battling OU and TX for recruits. We were fighting Baylor, TCU, Okie Lite, for the leftovers. We no longer will have competition from those.

I'd rather have Okie State than Texas

No doubt but the Texas revenue is serious. Texas also brings a level of wokeness that may even make the cucks at LSU blush.

Texas can leave their Austin based liberal woke BS at the door.

It also crushes Baylor and TCU. It seems Tech and Ok State may head west, Baylor and TCU may fall out of any P5 consideration. The revenue cut will devastate the programs.

Okie State road the coattails of the two big boys harder than anyone else in the Big 12. They were the second biggest game on both the Longhorn's and Sooner's schedule, meaning two big primetime games. Now nobody is going to watch them.

Didn't OSU's biggest money man pass on to those goalposts in the sky last year? That would have been their biggest loss.

A ran into Coach at the Ruth's Chris in Austin about a decade ago. We were going in, he was leaving. You would have thought Elvis was in the building. He stopped and took pictures with us. Nicest guy.

Expands Arkansas' recruiting territory? He acts like the state of mobilehoma is a recruiting hotbed.

Hey coach, Paying players (NIL) is going to make more of a difference than 2 teams joining a conference. If Arkansas pays they will get the players.

This kills TCU and Baylor’s football programs. The only thing they had to sell recruits was sticking it to Texas and OU for passing on them.

LSU will get more recruits out of Texas now. Arkansas will benefit too. You young boys don't understand what Arkansas lost coming to the SEC. North Texas recruiting. Now Arkansas gets to go back into its Southwest Conference recruiting ground Dallas and tell those kids you will get to play in Texas 2 and 3 games a year. Arkansas was a major player in Dallas before the SEC switch.

Not sure why you were downvoted, because you're exactly right. We'll get a few more players we didn't before, but after all this time, it probably won't be huge.
