I have to give stet his props. He’s done better than I thought. If we win it all, his story will be the Cinderella for a while

I think Daniels will want another year playing the college game somewhere; he's going to want a lot more film and also to show he can play a full season.

But why should he trust Kirby at this point? I mean, it's not like he's been given significant opportunity to play since returning from injury, let alone reclaim his job. This is Smart's pattern. Similar to Fields/Fromm...Smart locks in. It became clear that Fields was going to have to basically wait around for two years.

The test of whether Daniels wants to be generous is whether he feels it's worth it to stay with the team beyond the regular season. I mean, what's in it for him to help Smart? He could take the approach of: "Good luck the rest of the way with Bennett (and hope for your sake he doesn't get injured)."

Your point being what? McElroy from what I do recall was a Rhodes scholar finalist...and actually made it a couple of years in the NFL. Don't think Bennett will check either of those boxes.

How many reps have you seen in practice? Do you know how healthy JT has been? It's clear from your post you think the most raw talent is the better option but if a player doesn't know the playbook, can make reads, or is healthy that isn't the best option to win. Kirby's job is to win college games...and that's what he's doing. Fromm was light years ahead of Fields in reading defenses and the playbook. Fields had better tangibles than Fromm but didn't know the playbook and wasn't capable of making the reads...but everybody wanted a mobile QB. Now we have a stationary QB who isn't healthy and have a mobile QB, and Kirby doesn't know what he's doing....meanwhile leading a team to an undefeated SEC schedule and the number one ranking in the land. What you're saying is YOU know more than Kirby. Go frick yourself.

Kirby Press Conference.

Maybe all you guys that know more than Kirby should listen in around the five minute mark. Quit bitching or jump off the ledge.

As mentioned Stetson's mobility has been the key factor in him staying the starter. I know he has a year left with the COVID rule but maybe if we win it all he will decide to hang it up while he's on top. I am kind of surprised Kirby didn't let JT get any snaps late in the game today. You would think if he was thinking he would need a 2 qb rotation at any point he would let him get some snaps. Seems like Kirby is running the course with him. JT going to Ga Southern with Helton seems like a good path for him after this year.

Hell yes he'll transfer and I won't blame him. We'll likely also lose QB recruits over this bullshite.

I have NEVER seen a qb get his dick sucked as much as Stet does for rushing 30-40 yards a game. He can't throw a receiver open, he can't throw a deep ball, he misses easy throws, but by golly that baw sure can bust out a 10 yard run once a quarter!

he has had a really great attitude on the sideline; every time they show him, he is engaged - either supporting Stet, raising 4 fingers for the 4th qtr or cheering the team

I have not seen him brooding or pouting, not once

could be that he & the coaches (including Kirby) & his parents got together and decided that being the backup and healing 100% this year was what is best for HIM and his future career

my guess is that JT is back as the starter next year; 100% healed & ready to showcase himself for the NFL

I sure know what Kirby has been saying for two weeks. So I guess you are admitting that Kirby lies? Well, if so...even less reason for any high level QB recruit to trust him.

I agree with what other poster above said...never seen a mediocre QB who's been so clearly living off the 5 star talent around him get as much praise as Bennett for picking up 30 yards scrambling a game (against bad defenses, too).

I mean, maybe you're right...maybe Kirby has simply been lying and Daniels hasn't been 100% all season. But this would suggest Kirby has a bit of a problem with lying or changing his story.

Probably not. Being injury prone and bailing on your team twice probably aren't characteristics that endear one to NFL coaches.

But in the new era of college football, who knows.

Well, yeah. Unlike some other backup QBs we have had in the past, Stetson is not a GENERATIONAL TALENT.

Ok.. so JT already got a waiver last year. He won’t get a second one, which is what he would need. I think he stays and plays to get his stock up.

Don’t care. If he needs to play, I’m confident he will do well. If he leaves, I’m confident we will find a QB. Enjoy the ride

If I was JT, I would transfer. I'm OK with Stetson getting most of the snaps, he's earned it, but don't you think it's odd that JT is going games without seeing a single snap? I hope it just doesn't come back to bite us in the arse if Stetson goes out. JT should at least be getting two or three series a game.

We need stronger conspiracy theories…

All of the talk about JTs health and the impact it had on his mechanics is what drove his QB coach coming to town. I honestly just don’t think he’s ready and Kirby is fine to let Stet direct the ship through the SEC championship.

With all of the chaos, we have a theoretical mulligan if we get to the SEC championship without a historically bad slip up.

And this is where the conspiracy starts. After conference championships, everyone hits the reset button basically. Playoff teams have a month to get ready, or get rusty. Insert JT with the 1s and get him back up to speed, with little film for teams to prepare against.

Im just Josh’n…this is Stets team but why not embellish more unknowns. ??

Late in the game JT would have been handing the ball off to the RBs. If he was going to play it should have been after the first drive of the 3rd quarter and throwing the ball.
