What's up with our RB situation.

I'm aware that Milton is not avail and also Robinson, but what about our other Robinson and Paul. Not that Bell has been a disappointment, but where are those other 2 RBs?

Roderick Robinson has a high ankle and it appears that Paul isn't there yet - maybe protection wise. Who knows

Branson Robinson. out for year with torn patellar tendon.
Milton. Tweaked mcl/ chronic hammy issues
Roderick Robinson. Ankle injury. Was in boot
Andrew Paul. Coming back from torn acl last fall camp. Also had sprained knee I think.

Wasn't aware of the latter two. I do wonder why Sevaughn Clark hasn't been utilized to spell Edwards. He's at least a bigger body than Cash Jones and he's been scout team (I think) for a few years so there should be some knowledge of the system.

Sevaughn Clark
I feel like every time he gets in he finds the end zone, albiet its usually short yardage situations he gets in

What happened to that kid from TN?

Probably should have signed another back last year given the injury concerns with Milton and Paul. Injury to Robinson exacerbated things, but you have to expect RB injuries given the nature of the position.

Pretty sure Whitehead had a season ending injury last year. He also needs to learn our playbook. Not sure if he’s even dressed a game yet

He was mop up at best for UT as well. He’s depth at best I guess

?
He has 1 TD in his career (a couple of weeks ago).
He also only has 1 TD in a GDay game (this past spring).
Are you sure that you aren't confusing the senior with everyone else?

I guess he has touched the ball twice and scored twice between spring and fall, making me think all he does is score

At this point I'm thinking warm body=check
with a pulse=check
is a RB=check
big body and experience in the system= check.check.
Just wondering why he hasn't seen the field given the situation at RB. God forbid Edwards gets hurt. Just thinking it wouldn't hurt to have a guy with playing time besides Bell.

Edwards is damn good enough to ride 20 carries a game even though I know we don't operate that way.

We've chosen Cash over Sevaughn.
Cash evidently does more for the offense (pass protection and as a receiver).
I live in Dawson County.
We are huge Sevaughn fans.
We went nuts when he scored that TD.
He runs hard. Keeps his legs churning. He can show a burst if the hole is big enough.
But the coaches see more potential with Cash (if the hole is there, it doesn't matter who the RB is).

I might be remembering it worse than it was but I remember him making Starks look silly with a stiff arm in Gday this year. Maybe Starks was chillin too much but when I saw it I was like OK who’s that guy?

As someone who doesn’t know, how difficult is it for a RB to pick up blocking rushers? It seems like a kid that’s 230 and used to getting hit should be able hit the guy rushing from your side…:or are they supposed to identify the loose rusher pre snap and that’s the issue? Doesn’t the QB identity where he thinks that’s coming from?

It is both the reads and execution. It is not an easy task when a guy has a head of steam and knows where the QB is

The RB situation also should be taken into consideration when evaluating Beck.

On pass plays....the OL, QB and RB all have responsibility pre-snap to understand the defense. The Center typical is responsible for calling the blocking scheme for OL, the QB also will make adjustments, including moving the RB over. However, the RB must still pick up inside Tto outside rushers and thats difficult to do. Also needs to know when to full block, chip block or straight release. A LOT happens in 2.5s

Might have to ride him this year...
