So, what you are saying is several of the Coaches you covet were fired at other schools and non of them had consistent success in their first 3 years at their current school?

I'm not sure how you could have gotten this out of my post at all. None of those coaches got fired because they didn't win, besides maybe Barnes. Other than Pitino, I haven't mentioned anyone I covet.

No one is changing anyone's mind here. I think White has a hard ceiling because his teams have a long, proven track record at three different schools of not being able to score. You either think this is good enough or is going to get better; I do not.

That game last night was absolutely atrocious to watch. I think the ending with White is inevitable, it's just a matter of how long we want to wait to rip off the bandaid. I hope I'm wrong.

So, if we make it to the Tourney this year for the first time in a generation, do we fire that motherfricker? Because he is no good?

We get it you don’t like to fire GA coaches when they suck

I wonder if we get a home NIT game lol. Somehow I just don't think the fans will be too excited about any NIT games. We aren't even a lock for the NIT at this point.

Our team is clearly not good enough to compete at a high level in SEC basketball but hopefully we can make a run in the NIT like our team last season. And that might be the best we can hope for with Mike White.
I think it's going to take a really outstanding coach to overcome our lack of basketball tradition the way other SEC schools have done at:
Auburn: Bruce Pearl
Alabama: Nate Oats
Tennessee: Rick Barnes
Florida: Todd Golden
Texas A&M: Buzz Williams
Missouri: Dennis Gates
Mississippi State: Chris Jans
Ole Miss: Chris Beard

All of which are currently ranked in the top 25 and yea, I'm pretty sure Florida feels good about losing Mike White since they are currently ranked #2 in the nation.

I am now of the belief everyone we know will have passed and we still won't be any good at basketball....

Same issue that accepted mediocrity for 30 plus years in football

Are y’all’s expectations that we become #1 in 3 years or FTMF?

No, just not look like shite vs teams we should beat. We absolutely should be ahead of Missouri and Miss State.

Exactly. We should at least be competitive in the SEC winning roughly half of our SEC games. Instead we are 4-9 in SEC play, unranked and likely won't get in the NCAA tournament again this season but it is possible if we win 3 out of our next 5 games or have a run in the SEC tournament.
Heck, Golden has taken Florida to #2 in the nation during the same period of time as White at Georgia.

White took UF to the NIT his first year and then the Elite 8 his second year and went to the tournament every year after during his tenure there.

White took over a UGA team that was 6-26 with no recent history of success while also in a major shift in talent from the Big East and ACC to the SEC…. Which showed in the AP top 25 where SEC teams were more frequent and ranked higher than any time in recorded history. White won 20 games in his second season at UGA and has a possibility to do it again with easily the most difficult schedule UGA has had…ever.

I wish we had fired Fox earlier and gone after Barnes. He has been really solid at UT. UT and UF had a similar history to us going back to the 80's although Durham had a really solid run from mid to late 80's. We have 5 games left and are 16-10. The best likely scenario is we probably win 2 of 5. If by some miracle we win all 5 that would put us at 9-9 in the SEC and with an SEC tourney win get us in. Any other scenario we probably have to win the SEC tourney.

I obviously agree on Barnes but literally all those coaches have developed their teams better than White has. I don't know what is missing in our athletic department but somehow we don't seem to have the necessary insight in identifying up and coming basketball coaches who would be a good fit with our program.
As for the remaining season, my guess is we win the last 2 games and finish: 18-13 and 6-12 in the SEC.
We can probably win a game in the SEC tournament if we get matched up with SC or LSU.
We won't get a NCAA spot but this team could make a little run in the NIT.
And as usual, we have some good individual players but they don't play well as a team especially on offense.

yah, something missing in our AD. Saw one of my Auburn's friend's post about Auburn basketball. They had some down years with Lebo but they have always had pretty good basketball support. When you talk to a lot of UGA fans and alumni they will tell you they don't care about basketball and can't wait for football season.
