My observation about blocking and running and stacked boxes regarding UGA this year:

Normally you would try really hard to establish the run, to set up the pass.

Chubb's reputation precedes him.

We don't actually have to establish the run to bring up defenders to the LOS.

When 27 is out there, the box is loaded.

No establishment needed.

The problem is that Eason (and receivers) are too inconsistent to make the defense back off.

Result: shitty run yards for Chubb et al and lost games.

Eason and the receivers only have to get a little bit better.... they are almost there.

We are right on the cusp, yall. Right there.

Minus Malcolm Mitchell it is the same bunch we had last year. And McKenzie is on pace to gain the same number of yards as Mitchell.

A WR like Mitchell makes a big, big difference. He was a very good player. McKenzie has the stats, but he isn't Mitchell. I'd be curious to know how many of McKenzie's receiving yards have come off of that little tap pass.

Clearly what Mark was doing wasn't working otherwise UGA would be on the same level as Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and LSU. Put our athletes on the same field with those teams and our guys are smaller and slower for starters. As outlined in several articles already there needs to be a culture change at UGA and that isn't happening till these Upperclassmen are gone. Smart and his staff isn't going anywhere so everyone might as well stop crying and get behind their football team for a change.

We weren't even on the same level as the best of the SEC East........

To be honest, most fans look at the last 10 years as when the program dropped off. CMR's first 5 were great.

In the last 10 years we've won the east 2 times.

Never met 1 fan who looks at the last 10 years in regards to CMR's record
They might look at the last 5...2 titles, top 10 in '14,probably another SECe title
in '13 w/out injuries and a shite show last year.

Could we have done better?Sure, but to say we we didn't compete with an
admittedly bad East is absurd.

Honestly...I never considered you a supporter or detractor. I thought of you more as a fair evaluator.
However, we are talking about overall talent. When Richt was here the detractors were all saying that he was terrible because we had all that talent and couldn't win. That was my point.

ETA

And. Again. people are not upset because we got beat by Tennessee or Ole Miss. (Maybe the way we got beat, but as a whole they were expected) They are upset because of the way we look against teams with FAR less talent than we have right now.

Not if you can't get him the ball, and everybody knew we couldn't get him the ball. Everybody and their brother knew that Lambert could not go deep, and that was the value Mitchell brought.

A good question, actually. I don't know.

Can you imagine if McKenzie was 6'1" tall?

1. Can you name me any other teams that are on that level?

2. Did you realize we beat two of those teams in the last 5 years Richt was here?

Seriously? Couldn't be coaching. Funny, when Richt was coaching it was all coaching, and none of the Richt supporters were complaining he had no talent. That's an excuse.

The Richt Haters never said the talent wasn't there. They blamed Richt for not winning the NC every year with all that talent. It was only when Kirby came in that there was no talent on the team.
This team would likely be 6-1 today with last years coaching staff.

Its hard to say. We lost a heart breaker to Tennessee last year, so it would be difficult for me to say that definitely would have been a win. Ole Miss just had a great match up against us personnel wise, so I'm not sure that outcome would have changed.

All we can do now is speculate. People that liked Richt will speculate that we would be doing much better, and people who did not like him will say we would be doing much worse. Nobody knows for sure, though.

Yeah....never heard any complaints about OL talent and depth before.

Or the 2013 class....

or the self imposed 15 scholarship penalty...

Or the lack of focus on recruiting linemen...

Or recuiting track stars vs. football players...

Nobody ever talked about that stuff till Kirby showed up.

I heard all of these. The talk about OL talent was that it was not as good as it could be, but it wasn't to the point it is now. No talent, bare cupboard, etc. Point is, he still did well while these same issues were being complained about, though.

I did not hear this one. I have to ask....sarcasm?
I actually did hear most of those things while Richt was here, and I like Richt a lot. I am guessing since you hit on all of those that you are being sarcastic, though? (I'm slow)

Point being? I mean, nobody is any good this year, either.
