Georgia will get a $4 million guarantee for playing North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in 2016

That's more than I expected and more than the $3.2 million WVU and Bama will get this year. These neutral site games are really taking off in popularity and payout. Huge money makers for the schools that can snag one.

There's no "contribution per game" like WG stated.

For most of the "normal" seats in Sanford you have to contribute $250 per seat, just for the ability to purchase season tickets. Subtracting ~10K for visitors and ~18K for students/band, that's about 65,000 (we'll round down to 60) seats that need a contribution. Keep in mind some of those are higher priced seats that are in the club or boxes. Let's round down even further and say 55,000 to account for tickets given to corporate entities.

That's roughly 13,750,000 in contributions, which divided by the number of home games (let's say 6) would be roughly 2.3M brought in "per game" from contributions.

my numbers might be a little off, but not enough where that GA Southern is even close to UNC in Atlanta.

I don't think anyone said we'd make as much money playing southern as playing in the CFA game. Obviously we'll make more at CFA.

And we don't have to pay a school to come to Athens either.

That 13,750,000 that you quoted is going to be about the same regardless of whether we have 6 home games + Chick-Fil-A or 7 home games. Donors do not have to contribute more for more home games. They pay more through face value.

Uh, you and Porter very quickly and adamantly questioned me. And you're both wrong.

donors have to contribute before they can buy tickets, period. That is money that the AD is bringing in up front.

wrong about what? On that final point no one is disagreeing, because it's an obvious fact.

UGA to open 2016 Season against UNC in Chickfila Kickoff game.

Very cool. I wish UF would play in one of those, it'd be awesome to kick off the season in Atlanta against a normal team instead of the route we usually go :/

SIAP but this is a long thread and I didn't go far post the OP..has UGA ever played in teh kickoff classic before? I know bama has a handful of times and I think Auburn did recently as well. My memory ain't what it used to be.

Preaching to the choir, I'm a donor, and I plan to contribute in 2016. Honestly, unless the team goes nuts in 2015, my 2016 donation will probably be the minimum required because of the shitty schedule, even with UNC on the slate. When I donate, I'm typically looking at:

1) Schedule
2) Performance the prior season
3) Parking
4) My plans for the fall that year

Schedule is by far the biggest factor for me.

I said we'd make more playing UNC than GA Southern. You both questioned me. Whether UNC is at home or in the dome, we generate more revenue either way.

can you link the post in question? I don't think I (or anyone) ever disputed we would make more money playing UNC compared to southern.

Ok, you linked one of your own posts.

Now can you link where myself or someone else said what you're claiming we did?

There's a good page or two of you and Porter questioning ticket sales or revenue and quoting incorrect figures like selling 82k tickets at face and "giving" tickets to away teams almost as if for free. Or "per game contributions" which do not exist. I have faith that you can find it.

that onus is on you my friend. You're the one who claimed me and porter said something, then havne't provided any proof of such when asked.

You can find it and support your claim if you want, otherwise I won't believe it.

Speaking only for myself, I questioned him because he said this idiotic statement

quote:

The fact that we have to pay GA Southern to come completely negates home ticket sales

I never said anything about making more money for the game. Just called him out on this.

You do realize that the GA Southern payout equates to about 25% of ticket sales? Yeah, prolly not. That payout wipes out any ticket sales you could possibly get from any opponent anywhere. The CFA kickoff is astronomically higher than buying a W against a cupcake.

You know this, how? Who knows? We're playing UNC and its a fertile and growing recruiting base and we've pulled some studs out of there. Maybe some kid who's a big UNC fan or just lives in N. Carolina tunes in and becomes a Dawg fan.Hell,he doesn't have to be a current 5 star prospect.

After going through an 8 game SEC schedule, tech, and an SECCG, our spot in the rankings probably isn't going to hinge very much on whether we beat UNC or beat southern.

We don't know this for a fact. Hell,we could have 2 losses and win the SEC or maybe go undefeated and lose in OT in the title game and still be under consideration for the final four.

C'mon, who have we pulled out of NC? Not like any good athletes come from there
