I feel like we have overlooked him and given him a pass for the D-Line underperforming since he has been here. Also for some reason he seems to be the only one on staff who hasn't been able to make a big splash with recruits (Travon being the outlier but he already had a UGA bias).

The recruiting issues would offset if he coached up the D-Line(also I know we had some key injuries last year) but again I feel as if they have vastly underperformed the last two years.

Any insiders know what the overall vibe is on Scott? Is he a better coach than I am giving him credit for? I just see an average coach/recruiter benefiting from a school with a national brand.

I agree and I take responsibility for this... I will speak with him and see if we can get this fixed.

Let me clarify. By "we" I meant the journalists at Dawgnation, 247sports, Rivals, so on and so forth. I just browsed through the recruiting thread and saw plenty of disdain thrown his way.

Very few people have given him a pass.

Are we just ignoring this recruiting class?

Well, injuries were a pretty big reason last year. And you're saying the DL under performed in 17. Can't say I agree with that either.

He is the worst recruiter on the nation’s best recruiting staff. That means he is still pretty good, just really stands out because of how prolific some of his colleagues are.

Roquan saved their asses more times than I could count. Remove him and the entire perception of that 2017 line changes.

DLine is our weakness and I am not sure what happened with rocker was in our best interest.

Those guys like playing for a guy with NFL experience.

No shite but they still didn't under perform even if you take Roquan out of the equation.

In the defense that Georgia runs, that is exactly what the linebackers are supposed to do. The Dline is supposed to stalemate the Oline and keep the OLine off the linebackers and the linebackers come in and make the big plays. From time to time, if possible we want the DLine to blow a play up by making penetration across the LOS. So, if you want to blame a single group for not doing as well as they could have, you should look at the linebackers. however, they, as a whole, have done well, too.

Gusy...our defense is pretty darn good.

I just want one year in the near future where UGA's defense is like 2011 LSU or 2011 Alabama's defense.

The ultimate dream is having a defense that guarantees you'll win the game as long as you can find a way to score just once.

2011 was grey shirt galore. They basically had to cheat to get a d like that.

Rocker was a lazy recruiter who pissed parents off. I was glad to see him go.

Folks need to relax.

Last year was Walker, one of 4 5* D. Tackles.

This year we have 4 of the top 30 including Jalen Carter, a top 10 kid who will almost certainly show the kind of measurables to move him into the top 5 category and Nazir Stackhouse, a beast and the best at the position in this state. Dawgs also signed GA's #2 DT. All of those kids are 300+, physical, and can move - perfect fits for the UGA system.

We have the 2nd best D-Tackle class (behind Clemson) in the nation with kids who are perfect for this system. I think that's a pretty good recruiting job.
