Nah, if we're gonna burn the bitch down, Isiah Thomas is the way to go.

Tom crean fits the bill for our program/university but he is the type that can get us to the next step, not the final step. Which I’m ok with fwiw. Let’s do it

I’d take Petino just to watch him all of a sudden, not be able to sign good basketball players here.

Question: if McGarity nails a big name hire not named Pitino, does his favorability tick up at all, or does everyone still hate him?

It'd be hard for him to really rise up in my book, considering this move should have been made way before now.

McGarity plays not to lose, rarely to win. If it were his call, Dan Mullen would've been our coach, while Kirby wrecked shite in SCar.

That must be why we hired Smart.

Football has opened up the checkbook. Basketball, is still being run under Dooleyesque frugality. Auburn was top 10 nationally in spending. We aren’t top 50.

There will be 8 SEC teams in the tourney this year. 8... we played a lot of good teams this season. How many of those 8 spent more than we did on hoops?

UGA actually beat some really good teams this year as well. We’re really 3 games from being a decently seeded team in the tournament.

Need to open up the checkbook for a new staff and recruiting budget.

Ya, Fox had one of his better squads and ran into the deepest SEC regular season he ever faced. Unfortunate timing for him.

Yep. But he also had some very winnable games that we gave away which has happened against all levels of teams over the years. I think Fox was a fine coach, I just think the program had kind of stalled and needed some new energy. Similar to the football program.

Thank god we didn’t go the Buzz Peterson route

He's been pretty damn good at Marquette and Va Tech

You’re thinking of Buzz Williams. I’d love to get that guy.

Yep Buzz Peterson was the failure at Tennessee. He is the Charlotte Assistant GM cause he I'd MJs bud from college now.

He kept his job for so long thanks to a weak sec though, so he was more fortunate than otherwise. This was his chance to prove that idea wrong and he didn't.

I know you're joking, but don't lump Smart in with Pitino.
