It can't or won't happen but I wish Billy D would get tired of the NBA and come to Athens for $5 Million a year. Just to see the nuclear explosion that would be Gainesville

I actually think from a recruiting standpoint, Mata would be the best option but his style of play will be somewhat similar to Fox. Crean likes to run and get s much transition baskets as possible. At a school where football is King, Mata may be the better option.

Wasn't Creen generally hated in Indiana? I realize they have higher expectations

Their expectations are absurdly high and don’t necessarily match their own pedigree as a program.

He also has experience with this during his time at OSU. I'd be happy with either one of Matta or Crean

How soon can we expect a decision?

Mata is making more sense... he did get Daniel Giddons out of Georgia a few years back... he probably will recruit the state better... either way... we’re getting an upgrade over what we had.

I don't buy that for a second. With the current landscape of college basketball, that's just inviting the NCAA/FBI to camp out in Athens until he is at the center of another scandal, which would probably be like 3 weeks.

UGA will protect itself from Pitino... can’t have the NCAA/FBI looking around our university... Harrick also was probably the deciding factor in forcing Dooley to retire/get fired earlier than anticipated.

Dooley hired Harrick right? I seem to remember Dooley doing anything and everything possible to protect the football program... so he axed the b-ball

Adams was the main reason for the Harrick hire.

quote:

Harrick was chosen as the Bulldogs coach over Appalachian State's Buzz Peterson, who was endorsed by Dean Smith and Michael Jordan, his former coach and teammate, respectively, at North Carolina. The other finalist, Delaware's Mike Brey, removed himself from consideration.

Georgia president Michael Adams was apparently the driving force behind the hiring of Harrick, who was at Pepperdine when Adams served as the school's vice president of development.

Harrick was the Pepperdine coach for nine seasons, a tenure that began in 1979 and included four NCAA tournament appearances and the only losing season of his college career in 1986-87.

Mike Brey would have been nice.
