Just a thought. The OL usually has two distinct advantages over the DL.

1. They know the snap count and can therefore get off the ball faster than the DL.

2. The QB has the ability to audible at the line of scrimmage, putting the OL in the best situation to be successful.

With the way the crowd was into the game, both of those potential advantages were wiped out. Having to go on a silent snap count means the DL pretty much gets off the ball at the same time as the DL. Also, I can’t imagine Fromm would be able to audible well if at all with all of that noise.

Remember this is the only game this year in a hostile environment. If we face Auburn again it will be on a neutral field. This may not win the game but it has to help. Thoughts?

Lol. Thanks guys.

Ok. I guess what I am asking is does the above explain our problems on the OL Saturday or are they as bad as they looked?

Does it explain it?

No.

Was it a contributing factor?

Sure.

Give Auburn credit for playing well...

But they were aggressive on defense. They used the same strategy as UF did last year. TheUGA line made mistakes, but they were outnumbered and we played right into Auburn’s strength and strategy. To me, that was the second most disconcerting part of the game. The 1st was the mental meltdown of the entire team that was never really righted.

Mecole's body language after the muffed punt was horrible.

We have...

A converted guard playing LT

A converted tackle playing LG

A converted DT playing C

A Redshirt Freshman at RG

A True Freshman at RT (going against the NCAA sack leader)

Auburn has an elite DL. We struggled.

Help is on the way. I'm honestly really impressed that this OL has been able to produce all year with the patchwork Pittman has put together. They are going to struggle when they go big on big. It is what it is -- we are going to have to try and scheme around it for the SEC Championship for sure.

Bull fricking shite... this line is plenty capable. Auburn adjusted after our line looked like world beaters on the first drive and we continued to do the same shite. You have to put them in a position to be successful... we didn’t and paid the price...

We had good pass protection on the first drive but that's it. Didn't run the ball all game and that's where we have lived all year.

Not saying this line isn't capable, but they are going to struggle if we try and line it up and run right at them. I certainly agree we have to put them in the position to be successful -- which isnt running into the teeth of elite DT's against our Guards and Centers. Gonna need to be more creative in a few weeks.

The most disheartening thing about our OL was the shear lack of discipline. It was blown assignment after blown assignment. How can 5 OL and a tight end (6 big boys)not even slow down 4 DL? That defensive front 4 have been playing that position at the Barn for over 3 years on average. They have been in the film room and have schemed and executed their schemes in the past whereas our OL is still green. We have a good group of guys that are still very green. We need to revisit the center position. I'm not so sure we are getting any better there. we are good at LT and when assignments are executed properly, we are good at RT. Our interior line needs help to say the least.

our OL can play. They are good. In fact they're one of the best units in the country. On Saturday, they played soft and slow. But you can bet your cut off bulldog tail they will be ready when we we get to the Benz.

Um, no they weren't. A lot of the night, Auburn only rushed 4 and had no trouble.

NO. They have not played a superior D like they saw in Auburn's and were exposed. When you have 4 imposing their will, that speaks volumes. Hell, this line is basically the same unit as last year. Talent doesn't grow that much.

This team is no where near ready for the big stage.

At times but they were also playing their safeties about 8 yards off the LOS and corners in press coverage
especially earlier in the game.Horrible the we didn't take more shots down the field especially to Wims.

Not defending the shitty play, but I don't think any team in the country would've been able to beat that Auburn team on Saturday. They were amped the frick up and you could tell. Oline played horrible but our entire team played horrible, save Roquan cuz hes a fricking baller.

It was just one of those days where we didn't have it. But I am glad we got it out of our system and hopefully lit a fire under our arse. I'll admit I was acting like a child for a few days after, but then I remembered a few things.

1) Auburn is still a shitty school full of Atlanta kids who didn't get into Georgia

2) Auburn is a shitty town full of Atlanta kids who didn't get into Georgia

3) Auburn relies on transfers to have winning football seasons because Auburn is a shitty town/school full of Atlanta kids that didn't get into Georgia

By the time Wims got down field, Fromm sacked.
