Agree to disagree. Semantics.

Good to know that you think I'm a GSB talent. ;)

Neither was Kurt Warner initially.
You do realize that Kurt Warner made the St Louis Rams roster out of camp in 1998? He wasn't called up because 2 QBs ahead of him got hurt.
So he did something that Catalina has yet to do. If you think Catalina develops in the NFL camp to become a hall of Famer, I will reply again "I hope he does". I want good things for Catalina. He helped us by being better than the alternatives. But like making the Vikings squad out of camp, I dont think that will happen either.

I realize he was an UDFA that was cut by the Green bay Packers.
I also know that he was stocking shelves at a grocery store for $5.50 an hour. No NFL teams would give him a chance. Not one.
Stark difference to Catalina, no? Seems every time Catalina has been cut he has been picked up within 24 hours.

Maybe. maybe not. Nobody knows for sure. But teams see NFL talent in him. His problem here? he was played out of position.

Define "picked up". Semantics... I know. I just want to see your definition.
That is very different from Warner who signed with the Rams in January after the NFL season (signed in January because multiple teams wanted him due to his success outside the NFL) was placed in a development league over the summer, made fall camp and made the roster for St Louis in 1998.

Washington Redskins
Catalina signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017.[1] After a strong performance in training camp and the preseason, Catalina made the Redskins final roster.[2] He made his NFL debut in Week 8 against the Cowboys, starting at right guard in place of an injured Brandon Scherff. He was waived by the Redskins on November 11, 2017, but was re-signed five days later.[3][4]
On September 1, 2018, Catalina was placed on injured reserve after having shoulder surgery.[5] He was waived on July 31, 2019.[6]
Minnesota Vikings
On August 1, 2019, Catalina was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings.[7]
By the way, he made the first final roster according to wiki.
Claimed off waivers.
And Warner was cut from his first team and not picked up for 3 years. He was cut before the 1994 season and then was brought back to the NFL by the Rams for the 1997 season. Wiki

Thanks for the correction on Catalina's rookie season. I dont remember him making the team out of camp. But I would trust wikipedia better than my memory. I thought he made the practice squad and got called up with the 2 injuries ahead of him.
With an opening roster in 2017 and injury in 2018, maybe he has a better chance than I'm giving him for 2019. I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly I didn't either. And, remember, it is wiki, so it could be wrong. But, I'm not sure what else to look up to find out.

Who knows. It would have been interesting to see what he might have done had he been played at G. Not necessarily a criticism of the coaches because they played the hand they were dealt, and they didn't have a huge amount of time to get to know the strengths and weaknesses of the kids.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. All of that is in the past and I would much rather concentrate on what is happening right now with our program.

Checking back in. Have we admitted that he may be good enough to make a NFL roster yet?

I think most are. I went and started looking for threads saying he was not NFL material. I found one, but didn't have time t sift through it all to get specific quotes.
The more I think about it, I will probably let it die unless somebody wants to argue that it didn't happen.

I just glanced at the Vikings website.
Starting RT is dinged up (arm) and backup tackle is out.
Sounds a lot like Washington 2017.
Edit to add: if you want to see him play, their first preseason may be the one to do it.

He was great but he was also surrounded by an ungodly collection of talent on offense. Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and Az-Zahir Hakim at WR, a great offensive line, and arguably the best all around RB of all time in Marshall Faulk.
That team was going to be awesome and may have won the Super Bowl even if Trent Green didn't get hurt before the season. Green was a good QB too. See the 2003 Chiefs.

didn't expect him to make an NFL roster without injuries forcing him up there. That's what happened 2017.
Not even close to being correct.

Maybe, but that really isn't unusual in the NFL. Remember the Falcons a couple of years ago when it seemed as if the entire OLine was hurt and out?
Either way, he is playing in the NFL and has played in the NFL. And as has been pointed out made the roster coming out of camp his first year, so I am now wondering what your point is? Great players make rosters and gain starting positions in all sports. Lou Gehrig, for instance? I'm sure with time I can probably find tons of examples in football.

Here is a couple.
iMac isnt close to Mitchell as a complete WR and Theus was far better than anyone we have at tackle this year.
Theus was far better than Catalina? maybe in college but did Theus play in the NFL?
It's been consistent since October 2015. We can't run because our OL is awful.
It does hurt, but the problem is having a guy transfer from Rhode Island as our starting LT, and a DT being switched over to RG.
Here is Peter Buck saying something and the response. (The response is talking about Wynne, btw)
three guys who were on a draft list on the Oline
Please tell me you don't still believe this. We have one starter who might get drafted in the later rounds and he's playing out of position.
Who exactly had a 1st round projection? Oh, and 5th rounders and a UDFA that most likely won't make a roster aren't really that impressive in the SEC.
I think the UDFA was referring to Catalina.
Pyke, like I said he's athletic and reliable, I think he's the only one of the OL who will stick around in the NFL for a while. Kublanow-Nope, Catalina-Nope, Lamont-Nope, Wynn- He's solid for us but last time I checked NFL GMs aren't rushing out to get 6'1 sub-300 pound interior linemen.
Post above says Gaillard wouldn't be in the NFL long or Catalina and Wynn would not, either.
Yep, people want to act like we aren't starting a guy from a Rhode Island at LT, and a DT who just moved over to offense, as the RG. Not to mention Kubs is a terrible center and get pushed back on almost every play, as lack of strength has always been his weakness.
Post from Peter Buck:
The Rhode Island guy had offers from a number of SEC schools and is projected to go in the draft. You should research stuff before you post...
Response he got:
Well the only answer is they've both digressed then, because they are shite
I'm not sure where this NFL projection is coming from, honestly.
Having to grab a guy from Rhode Island was known way before game 1.
All right. These were from two threads, and I am pretty sure there were other threads. A LOT of other threads. But "Rhode Island" and awful were said a lot. If I have time later, I will go through more threads and try to find more....but trust me....it is there. It is easy to see that people clearly did not believe Catalina had NFL talent.
I realize that he was out of position....but I also know on more than one occasion i said it would be better to slide Catalina and Pyke inside to guard and have Wynn out at tackle and people argued me down about that. Anyway...it is what it is. Like I said, it is all in the past and I wasn't going to go back and look it all up, but you asked. Here is a small portion of it.

Looks like there was nothing specific about Catalina making it as an OG. Peter must still mad Catalina went undrafted.

I’ll take women who change the narrative for $1000 Alex.

Miss Pete, Proclaiming a disingenuous e victory is as petty and insecure as one can get. You thought he would be drafted as an offensive tackle, didn’t you? You were wrong.
