Size man, size. Can coach them up but you can't make them taller.

Plus, this isn’t the SEC... it’s only the NFL. Them guys don’t know nothing nohow.

In hindsight, it sure as shite looks like Pittboss should have been playing him at Guard and Wynn at Tackle...

Congrats to him. Never wished him any ill will, but it was *obvious* that he was a poor fit at Tackle for what we wanted to do during his time here. I'd be A-OK with the Catalina Wine Mixer getting some starts up in Minnesota, but it seems like this is another reserve signing. Never know what happens with injuries though.

Respectfully, the narrative was we had to get a D3 loser Grad Transfer who didn’t belong on a SEC squad because our line was so depleted , then it morphed to he wasn’t a ‘good fit’.... the reality is, he was a talented kid and a nice pick up and started on our O-Line because he was NFL talent. Maybe not a starter in the NFL, but one who is paid well above the minimum. I’m surprised he made it this far in the NFL, but I also stated that he was much better than he was being portrayed by the board football experts(SIC)...

Maybe? I know you and I went round and round... I don't believe I ever went to that extent, but I do remember some angry posts mid game that probably went that route heat of the moment while he proceeded to get outclassed by SEC DLmen.

I've said multiple times during that season and since then that I hold Pittman/Chaney/Smart just as accountable for the debacle that was 2016 OL as I did the players... early on it was fine to say the players weren't getting it, but it seemed clear that we weren't willing to adjust our approach or what we asked of them in the interest of defining an identity, regardless of whether that identity was successful or not.

He started on our OL because he was one of the 5 players who were most ready for the task at the time... His status as a potential NFL talent had frick all to do with it...

no arguments there... I'm also surprised, and I agree that you were well ahead of the board in viewing him as a better player than he was getting credit for. I still think you are playing him up a little too generously just because he has a contract in the NFL, but I agree... at this point, continuing to find himself on rosters certainly lends credibility to the idea that he has better ability than most people saw or acknowledged during his time at UGA... how much of that is development since he left and how much of that was just poor deployment of his skillset during his time in Athens, I don't know.

He is literally paid the minimum, which is still a shite load of money. Its a shame he didnt perform better for UGA, but I am glad he is making a very good living.

I didn't expect him to make an NFL roster without injuries forcing him up there. That's what happened 2017.

My expectation was a practice roster for 3 years.
I think he has pretty much met that expectation (he was injured all 2018 which is why he wasn't waived again last year).

My frustration with the coaching staff was playing Catalina at tackle and Wynn at guard. Wynn wasn't stout enough for guard and Catalina didn't have the footwork for tackle. That has played out in the NFL.

Let's see how 2019 plays out. Someone picking up the contract is no different than giving him a tryout. I hope he makes the team.

He is actually making about $50k more than the league min for an active roster player and a food bit more than a practice squad player. That could change if Minnesota restructures his current 3 year deal, which could go from taking the min, to feeling the need to keep him and increasing, to demoted to practice squad pay.

He was hurt all last season. That pretty much froze his situation until this offseason.

Good for him and good for us. Even our average players make money in the NFL. Can't be bad for recruiting.

You watched him continually whiff on pass blocks and thought he had NFL talent? I'm legit happy for him to find success in the NFL but he was below average at tackle in the SEC.

His salary is structured to receive the minimum for a year 1 player in 2017, minimum for a year 2 player in 2018, and minimum for a year 3 player in 2019.

Yes, I watched him and if you recall I stated he was not the bad player he was being made out to be by the football experts on this very website. 3 years later, he is still on a NFL roster. Crazy isn’t it?

This is a strange thing to be white knighting for

Let’s all agree he wouldn’t crack the 2 deep on this 2019 team. Our Catalina days are behind us for good
