Jesus, if Olivadotti goes Admin, we've cleaned house on defense.

And Orgeron would be available if Wilson goes to Bama. However, Bama is also looking at LSU's DL coach. If that happens, Orgeron is expected to go to LSU (which would be hell on the recruiting trail).

Interdasting.

Does Chris Wilson dislike his available talent at UGA? He has Ray Drew, Floyd and a slew of solid guys coming back.

If he interviewed at USC(real), and is looking at Bama, then that means he might have been given reason to with internal flow of Grantham's departure running its course. That makes me HOPE that they've been working on Kirby for a while. Especially since the Chavis/Foster/Narduzzi buzz has been non-existent.

That's exciting and terrifying at the same time if Kirby's the only one we're asking to the dance.

Nah, this is a "UGA is bringing in someone new at DC and I have to have options in case I'm mnot kept on" move. Just so happens that Bama has a DL opening. LSU's DL coach is also interviewing.

When did he do this? Not that I doubt you, I'm just wanting to piece together a timeline.

It was out there last week that he interviewed at SoCal before the Texas guy was hired...So it woulda been between 1-2 & 1-6...

Well, that could mean Richt and Co. have been working on these moves for a bit over a week. Plenty of time to reach out to a few guys...

According to JHD, SOC, BRB etc... Bobo has been out there for a while mending that fence, but who really knows?

He could also still be a possibility at USCw (lol @ y'all calling it "real") if Bo Davis decides he wants to leave USCw and come back to Alabama, not a real strong possibility but its there, Davis was one of the very early candidates since he's also been at Bama before.

If everyone asks about Kirby Smart, is he obligated to answer or do they just cut the show short?

I have a feeling he would avoid the question and give the obvious (We will hire the guy we best feel fits the program)

On the cheap

The big question I have is why would Kirby make a lateral move? I mean Bama will match any number we throw at him, so money is not gonna do it. You have to figure the only way he would make a lateral move is if he is made into some sort of head coach in waiting...which I thought was a fad that had passed. Honestly, not even sure its a lateral move...to me its a downgrade (I love my University, but UGA is no Bama and Richt is no Saban).

So I am going to assume that this is prob not going to happen.

So, realistically, who do we get? I honestly don't think we are gonna pull ANY high profile DC...we couldnt 4 years ago, why could we now?

I just really hope we aren't looking at Grantham part 2.

It's only a laterla move in terms of position and money. Otherwise, Kirby figures to have a brighter future at UGA than to keep on doing what he has been doing at Bama in Saban's shadow. He has said that the UGA HC job is his dream, so it makes sense to go ahead and place himself in a better position for the job now that Richt is 13 years into the stint and beginning to wear down. Plus, he is best friends with Mike Bobo, he and his wife are UGA alums, and Rodney garner is gone (which was a hiccup during this whole thing in 2009).

The job is a lot more attractive now than it was 4 years ago. Tons of returning talent and much more program stability.

I think the reason Smart would consider the move is that this is likely his only remaining realistic chance at the UGA HC job.
