They split up a while ago. She has her own pharmacy now.

One time, me and my son were watching football with the grill going on the porch and 3 drunk 20-somethings just walked in our front door like they owned the place. Of course, they were at the wrong house, but we informed them that they were lucky they didn’t get lead poisoning. They apologized and went to the right house next door. But we didn’t put the cops on them.

I was thinking about that too. If he was knocking on doors drunk, getting the cops called on him is far from the worst way that could have played out.

The yuppy/hipster part of town. Dallas proper is really different from most cities of its size. Bunch of really nice neighborhoods and skyscrapers make up most of the city with the ghetto cut off by the freeways.
Dallas itself feels like a small town, its the metroplex of dfw that makes it big.

Yah, I went to Dallas once. I was kind of surprised by how small the actual city felt. I was kind of like "this is it?". The geography seemed to be what made it really sprawl. Not many mountains or rivers.

My favorite quip is that he was going door-to-door looking for TCU's defense.

Lead poisoning lol. That’s good. Took me a minute. One time when i was a kid i walked into the family’s rented cottage in Galveston - there was unfamiliar adult washing dishes but hell I didn’t think about it cause we got a big family. I showered off the sand and went back outside. Realized i'd picked the wrong cottage. Dude had looked at me but didn’t say a word. Glad he wasn’t a tenner.

Sorry, been AWOL this off season. This happened in Texas so that state’s law applies. Most states have what we call dram shop laws or dram shop acts. Georgia has one too, although it is more restrictive than the Texas law: In Georgia the intoxicated person must cause an injury while operating a motor vehicle. LINK In Texas, it covers an intoxicated person who causes physical injury or property damage and the element of operating a motor vehicle is not a requirement. LINK
Stet would not appear to be covered by the statute as there was no injury or damage, at least based on the article. Also, it isn’t clear from the article that some establishment was serving him alcohol knowing that he was intoxicated, so there does not appear to be an entity that could be sued.
But I’ve got a story to tell as well. While in college a very close friend of mine got intoxicated. He lived in a dorm near where I lived and when it came time to crash he wound up in the wrong dorm room. When he awoke the next morning the surroundings of the room were not familiar to him, including having drapes over the windows (his room had blinds). He ultimately realized what he had done and was embarrassed. Fortunately the residents of the room recognized him and let him sleep it off. Now my friend had not been a drinker until he got into college. Sadly, later in life it became a real problem to the point where he could not hold a job. His family came to his apartment where they found him with empty liquor bottles all over the place. He had to move back home where his family could care for him. He developed many health problems later in his life.
I hope Stet doesn’t go down this road. He’s got a lot to lose.
