sure they can call them, but it'd be a 5 minute call with nothing coming out of it. No known, name, legit coach is going to take that job due to the major, MASSIVE undertaking that would be flipping over the entire roster. Why would a kiffin sign up for that?

Their only option is going to be to get a young up and comer at a small school who wants to step up to the ACC.

Slight disagreement... If I'm a "young up and comer", I am on an upward trajectory... taking the Tech job is a SERIOUS "rip the e-brake" moment and pray... because you're not going to have any legitimate success in year 1, and year 2 would be questionable pending major contributions from freshmen and sophomores. Year 3 would be the earliest you can expect to see positive results, and even that is suspect...

If I'm a young up and comer, I should be looking for a good opportunity to step into a decent roster and try to make the players on the roster more effective, and bolster it... not rebuild.

A full rebuild, which is what this would be, really needs to come from a guy that has "staying power", and essentially isn't going to get trashed as "not ready" just because he stepped into a giant pile of shite and is trying to dig his way out.

I don't believe Kiffin or Freeze would likely take the job, but it's certainly worth the call. I think Kliff Kingsbury *might* because he's sort of in the "top OC" job pool right now, rather than HC. While I don't *think* Leach would leave WSU, he apparently doesn't always sit super well with the ultra left PNW crowd and had been rumored to have his name out for other jobs multiple times in the last couple of years. Tech would be silly not to at least call and try.

Gus is taking the buyout and headed for ATL. Oh wait ha, there would be too much pressure to beat Georgia, which he’s not much good at.

Good riddance. If they hire another knee diver specialist, Kirby should demand that McGarity cancel the series immediately. Ten years is enough of that nonsense.

I don't even care if they hire a good coach, just tired of Georgia wasting practice time for that scheme plus getting side slammed in the knees on every defensive play.

As far as recruiting goes Kirby is gonna get his. No issue with them getting a kid her or there that would go to Auburn though.

I heard Stansbury on 92.9 the Game coming home from work. He sounded bewildered and lost. He repeated the Tech was a "unique situation" which translated to me he has accepted Tech is not an easy place to win. The Wisenhunt hire seems to make sense but that seems kind of like Chan Gailey II and it could be that he doesn't have as much success as CPJ. Still Tech fans were really tired of the triple option and a lot of Tech folks I know lost interest in football. Brian Bohannan seems to make a lot of sense but then you're stuck with the triple option.

The more I think about it, I think Satterfield is the guy they want. Be interesting if he would be interested in Tech or try to wait for another job.

Are there any confirmed names yet that they’re interviewing?

I seriously doubt CPJ just sprung this on them out of the blue with signing day a couple weeks out. Surely there’s been some planning

Coach Johnson ended your campaign for 8 straight and took two of the last four games.

Yeah. The fact that North Avenue High School is 3-8 during his tenure really upsets us.

Kirby got that shite figured out.

He either walks away now or never wins against the Dawgs again.

Talk about doing the Jackets a favor.

Glad we hastened him out to pasture with a proper send off. His last memory of the rivalry will be his team getting rag dolled in front of 90,000+ rabid Georgia fans.

Whisenhunt keeps getting brought up, but seems like a mistake. His only college experience was Vandy as an assistant in the mid 90s... So pre "modern era" of recruiting. Doesn't seem like a recipe for success... But that works for me.

The latest from the Auburn board is that Tech has contacted Auburn to work out a deal to hire Gus. Can't imagine they could pay anything close to his contract.

That would be weird... He's performed about the same as CPJ against Georgia with better talent.

And yeah... They aren't going to touch the 32 million he'd be owed right now... even if he agreed to the reduced buyout deal that's been discussed.

Yeah, no on Gus.

The more I read about him, I’d like Elliott from Clemson, but that’s a real long shot.
