So I somehow missed that Jon Richt is the QB coach for Miami ...

No wonder they are ready to string up CMR down in Dade County.

Jon Richt was a pretty bad QB at Mars Hill. Then he latched on to Daddy's career and was a "quality control" something or other here at Georgia. Then he had one year with the Buffalo Bills as an "offensive assistant."

CMR takes the Miami gig and brings his son in to be the QB coach. Wow. No wonder they can't recruit a QB. And as of this evening, in addition to getting hosed on early signing day, the best young QB on the team may be transferring out.

In the nick of time we got rid of CMR. In the nick. of. time.

Perfect example of why Richt is not a serious championship level coach.

Richt learned all of the wrong traits from Bowden, including his worst one. Bowden let his son Jeff be a horrible OC at FSU for way too long and it sped up his inevitable departure

He is doing what's best for the Richt family at the expense of the University of Miami, where he's getting paid millions.

And ultimately, I don't see how this helps his son. If the QBs did great, CMR would get the credit. If the more likely scenario unfolds - the QBs get worse and worse as the offense and the football program goes into a death spiral - his son gets the blame and CMR gets fired for putting his incompetent son in a position he wasn't ready for at the expense of the Canes.

Horrible decision making. Kind of like the Bauta debacle only with nepotism.

Man I kinda feel bad for Richt. Dude is totally out of his element. What a train wreck he has going on down there.

He should have hung it up when GA cut him loose and He'd still have tons of fans but he's destroying himself down there.

Miami lost more recruits today than they signed.

They are accusing Richt of having dementia.

He will be gone after this season.

Sad, and I still wish him the best.

I saw that too and it's unnecessary.

This sounds like Miami’s problem.

I'm not so sure that Mark isn't having health issues. He definitely wasn't the same coach for us in later half of his tenure.

Health issues is one thing, dementia is another. I suspect the only thing wrong with Richt is he is lazy and the fire and will is gone.

Did the timing coincide with his wife's cancer? I think that hit in 2006.

I’m sure it didn’t help and I hope she’s okay and beats it.

She beat it.

But life is about choices/tradeoffs. To be great at one thing, you have to sacrifice other things.

Having my wife go through cancer would put my career ambitions in a different perspective... permanently.

Didn't we, though? We were told to eff off. Sometimes nicely, other times, not so nicely. Oh well...The chickens are coming home to roost.

Agree with HTDawg. The fire is gone. It was gone after the 2012 SECCG. I was surprised he went back to coaching so fast after he got fired at UGA. I am sure going back to his alma matter was a factor. I would expect after this he may hang it up and go into the seminary.

I believe he made a mistake that is very common in many professions...he took a job as an act of pseudo vengeance against a former employer.

The fire that comes from wanting to “prove the other guy wrong” almost always burns out quickly and usually doesn’t produce results.
