How do we have so much talent but play so poorly against good WRs? I get they will make plays. But it's constant gashing of or DBs?

Because the rules favor offense so much that even or slightly better talent will win

The secondary got smoked more than a truckload of pork butts at Memphis in May

Because to get any consistent pressure whatsoever, we have to blitz. Our 4 man pass rush is crap. I’m convinced our secondary is not nearly as bad as they look, especially considering them receivers OSU has.

Most points scored in a loss in all of Ohio State’s football history

I don't think anyone can stop a good QB and elite WR. Especially when the QB is just back there chilling in the pocket.

2019 LSU
Bama multiple years
This OSU team

Worth looking into a more aggressive blitz plan from Kirby you would think. Not like it could be much worse.

It is near impossible to properly defend a good WR these days. Put an elite DB on an elite WR one-on-one and the receiver wins 75% of the time because of how rules are today. When a team like OSU has 4-5 elite WRs, it makes it impossible to shut down.

This is correct. We need MJJ, Darris Smith and a couple of these recruits to step up in that area next year. Need someone other than Carter to take the next step too.

Kelee nearly always get the best WR to cover and sometimes he's got his head on a swivel watching for another DB losing his man. Lassiter in particular.
I posted last week that Harrison was the only player I worried about. That dude can't be covered.

OSU had an elite OL as well. They picked up just about everything we threw at them. We dialed up a good amount of pressure.

That’s because There was a significant amount of holding on damn near every play

Sure,we'd be gold with Lanning and the FIVE 1st rounders plus Nakobe we lost off our defense last year.

No pressure on QB and thats what happens. Blame goes a lot more on the pash rush.

Elite QB and receivers were the number 1 issue.

Officials have really quit calling holding unless it’s blatant and in your face.

Elite QB with elite WR's and giving Ryan Day a month to prepare plus extra week UGA didn't have.

Doesn't help.

The only way to significantly limit elite QB and receivers is with good pass rush. Give Ohio State credit. They executed well, but those long drag routes are impossible to cover with equal talent. Who game plans 5 second routes against UGA? Refs allowed a ton of holding.

Everyone is bitching about our secondary but nobody is talking about how our offense gashed them and carved them up just as badly
